DAZ3D to Vue Plugin

Anu thoughts on the possibliity of a plugin to export DAZ items to Vue, preferably in the Vue vob format and not OBJ or FBX?

I find Vue works better with large scenes than DA Studio and my work around is to export from DAZ in the obj format with textures. FBX does not always work for me on export or importing into Vue.

Also Iray materials and shaders often have issues in Vue. Hopefully a plugin could resolve this Iray materian when it is converted to a Vue vob.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

  • As far as I know .vob is an undocumented, proprietary format so there would be little chance of getting an exporter to wrotye them. And of course Vue is no longer being developed (there was a suggestion that it might be open-sourced, but that sounded as if it was looking for external backers even if it was real so I would not hold my breath).

There was a Poser to Vue and Sketchup to Vue plugins when E-onsoftware was publishing Vue.

I can not remember if the Poser plugin was developed by E-onsoftware of Poser.

The Sketchup plugin (actually a script) was developed by a Vue fan/creator and sold on the old Cornucopia3D site.

There was a post on "Vue Galleries" on Facebook which seems to back your thought Vue may become "opensource" via Bentley (present owners of Vue).

Love Daz but lately it has been giving me issues with large scenes. I use Blender and Vue but I am more comfortable with Vue.

Plus I would have to purchase several Blender-addons to give me some of the features of Vue, especially plants and ecosystems. And Vue's material functions are so much easier than Blenders.

  • As I recall the Poser-Vue transfer tool was developed jointly by both, and made some Poser features available in Vue. I recall its being extremely version-sensitive.

That maybe. But if Poser can do it, why not DAZ?

Presumably the Vue developers chose to work only with Poser, and now of course there are no Vue developers.

According to one of the persons at Bentley on the Facebook group "Vue galleries" Vue maybe released as opensource. It was posted about one week ago.

Found the thread, Walther Beck of Bentley posting they are considering releasing Vue and Plant Factory as opensource.

I posted a screen capture of the post in case you are not on Facebook or a member of the "Vue Galleries" FB group.

    Hello All

    Answer is here

Poser to Vue – MyClone Poser and Daz Studio blog

Thanks kindly... But I am using DAZ and not Poser. Most of my DAZ props are in a CONTENT folder. Older DAZ props are in a RUNTIME folder. Also there is an issue with some Iray materiels when imported into Vue which your excellent Poser to Vue guide does not address.

This is an outstanding guide for the Poser user but not for the DAZ fan.

I do own Poser 7 and Poser Pro 11, Poser Pro 2012 but I hate the product after being exposed to DAZ.

Again many thanks and happy New Year.
