Converting Third Party Clothing into Daz3D

Dear Daz Forum,

I have a question, is there a possible way to convert third party clothes that never were rigged or anything before into Daz3D?

I have a model of a drysuit for scuba diving that I would love to fit onto my Genesis 8.1 Female but the problem is that, it was never intended to be used for Daz or anything.

I'll include a screenshot of how it currently looks.

Have a nice day!

yes, it's possible, I have used Skyrim and other clothing meshes but that particular case is more trouble than it's worth

the main thing is to make it match the base shape for the transfer utility

that could mean using temporary rigging to move limbs inside DAZ Studio or in Blender etc (I use Carrara myself) any program capable of rigging and weight painting is suitable

in DAZ studio baking joint rotations on a temporary load of Genesis9 (DONT SAVE IT!)

can work, posing and sizing it to match your clothing then with the rigging tool selected right click select edit bake joint rotations

use the transfer utility with that figure as source

pose and resize that dressed figure to match the original G9, edit figure convert to object on the clothing NOT the figure

unparent it and delete the modified G9

DON'T save the modified G9, you can mess up the original if you do

For such cases I would take it into blender and model or sculpt the clothing to fit the base character, so you can use transfer rigging.

There was a Rendorosity freebi for La Femme, I converted to G8F.
