The more I learn about that cat, the more I think he must be related to Richard Haseltine. They seem to have a lot of common traits.
As you can see in the photo, Gryff had a bit of a tail fan to thread the bramble through, even at 9 months old.
Regards,
Richard
ETA: It appears his lasers worked well too. Gryff died of heart failure just before his third birthday. Was a lovable gormless lump who sat looking vacant with his mouth slightly open when he got above age 2. We're now on cat 12 in 35 years, and most have reached 15+.. Plenty of time for silly stories.
I had a ginger and white female Persian mix, and she was.... Well, she definitely had her orange moments. Quite territorial, not always very bright. She terrorised male cats and smaller dogs. One day she charged our neighbours' Belgian shepherd, saw its real size up close, and sat in a tree for the rest of the afternoon.
She was so pretty, though.
This is her brother/scratching post, Rufus the floofus. He was a non-pedigree NFC, and had polydactyl feet. (We call them "ship cats" around here.) He annihilated everything, including the keyboard on my laptop.
Unfortunately Imgur seems to be region-limiting its hosted files - I am just seeing a "Content not Viewable in your Region" message.
I can see the two photographs in the US.
Tinsel Tail
Richard Haseltine's fluffy tail hair extension appointment ran long into the evening. (There's still 49 Minutest of Monday left where I live). It turns out that Tinsel Hair is not easy to source. Tinsel Hair is not only hard to get, it is hard to install and extraordinarily expensive. The agreed upon approach was to mix Tinsel Hair with hair extensions matching Richard's natural color for a more affordable and natural look. After hours of painstaking effort, hairdresser Tom completed the task.
Hairdresser Tom: OK. I'm finally done! You can look now.
Richard Haseltine: Wow! This tail exceeds my wildest imagination! Wait until Lola sees this!!
Hairdresser Tom: I'm so glad you're pleased. I added some Colorful LEDs to enhance the festive holiday look.
Richard Haseltine: I can't wait to show this off. I will be the envy of all who see me (like usual, but even more so).
Hairdresser Tom: Don't forget; stay away from all solvents this year!
(I tried for hours to get a good metallic tinsel look on that hair. I even bought a special product to do that, but I struggled to achieve the goal. I finally had to say "good enough".)
I love it!
Crap! I'm using Imgur for everything. There are 60k pictures on my account!
They are very fluffy! As you can see in the picture I managed to attach, Rufus was so floofy he was almost a round ball. I have other pictures to prove he wasn't massively fat, like that picture makes him look. He wasn't regal though, he was more like the court jester, with his antics. His sister was the princess of all peas.
I've tried attaching pictures of the two rascals.
That tinsel tail looks AMAZING. And Hairdresser Tom was smart to add the lights, now it will be difficult for Richard to sneak up on any unsuspecting birds... um, I mean, he will get everyone's full and undivided attention, of course!
As he deserves, of course! I hadn't consciously thought of that first feature, but as a bird, it was probably a subconscious choice on my part. Well done, Hairdresser Tom!
@WinterMoon, your NFC's are utterly gorgeous. They remind me so much of our Fluffy (black) with first a 12week Maine Coon kitten 'Gryff', then with an adult Maine Coon runt of the litter, 'Ozzie' on Squirrel Watch.
Most people seem to think NFC's are big cats, but for some reason they look sorta small to us.
Regards,
Richard
Barbult, I really like what you've done to RichardH's tail. I'm sure he'll love it right up to the moment he doesn't.
Regards,
Richard
Whose side are you on?
Very nice cats, I'm glad you could attach them.
Excellent, not only distinguished but the lights will stop certain people from treading on it in the gloomy winter days.
@barbult, I am in awe of Richard's tail. Simon would try to chase and pounce it. Charlie would stomp and eat it. Then barf on my pillow afterwards. He likes to share.
And reading everyone's comments of their own furry kittens was fun at 03:00am. Mine decided I needed to be up at 01:00am today.
Maybe I am aging myself, but I saw the term 'birds' and my head went to the slang term for young girls/women from the 1960s. I am not sure if it was the Beatles who popularized it or not?
@barbult Popping in from St Augustine to wish you and your thread group a Merry Christmas! I enjoyed going back through the renders, the cracked phone one was hilarious! I haven't rendered anything in Daz since early 2024 and don't know if I'll get back to it, but I'll pop in occasionally and see what you all are up to.
Cassel Dictionary of Slang says mid-nineteenth century, though it also says first use was c. 1300. Has varying connotations within the general meaning. But yes, it became more fashionable in the sixties and has since faded considerably.
