Anybody Remember A Thread In The Old Old Forums About Stitch Witch ?

It was quite a big thread I think, and a few years back - probably in the old forum archive that got flushed down the site redesign drain.

I'm specifically trying to find the name of (if I recall correctly) a freebie standalone application that was mentioned which would take a BMP design as input and convert it so that it looked as if it had been embroidered. I remember downloading that app and trying it, and it seemed to work quite well (with some limitations of course). But I lost it when I changed PC, and I no longer have the link.

Does anybody recall the thread ? And more to the point does anybody recall the app I'm thinking of,and is it still available ?

    Well you can browse the old forum commons through the wayback machine.  You just can't use the search function. Here is a link to September 1, 2011.

    IIRC Pagaeneagle (Richard) was very active in that thread. I haven't seen him on the DAZ forums in years, but he was posting about Stitch Witch on the Hivewire forums earlier this year. Maybe you could contact him there and see if he could help you.

    He's a regular on Hivewire. I got the impression that he drifted away from here mainly from being a Poser user and it got harder to use DAZ figures in Poser.

    Thanks for the suggestions - I've posted over on the HiveWire texturing forum as I think that's my best bet.

    Regarding the wayback machine - I hadn't even thought of looking there, even though I've successfully used it several times in the past to find stuff I thought was gone forever. So it's always a good option. But I don't relish manually wading through nearly 2000 pages of thread titles :oS  !  But if I can narrow it down, e.g. if I can find out when the thread was started, and know for certain which forum it was in... (another problem is that I've also noticed that with captures of forums etc it's often hit-and-miss whether a particular on-forum link will work - e.g. the page 1840 link from that 1 Sep 2011 capture).

    patience55 - thanks for the suggestion but I don't think it was that one, although I may be wrong - it's such a long time ago. (Edit the phrase "drawstitch" however does ring a bell...)

    Somebody already suggested that app on the original RDNA thread,

    To avoid completely losing those cross-references the source thread for this query is entitled "An Embroidery Shader?" in RDNA's Poser > Node Cult forum, and my follow on thread is entitled "Trying to track down an 'embroidery' app mentioned in old StitchWitch thread at DAZ" in Hivewire's Software Discussion > Texturing forum. It doesn't look as if I'm going to find it, unless it was an earlier version of that DRAWings Embridery Effect - I need to check that out

    Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by noting that?
