I stand corrected! Roughly same vintage, though, and as long since I've seen it, so I'm not surprised I got them mixed up. The 90's really gave us some awesome stuff.
Sure did. I just rewatched Dragonheart and Robinhood Prince of Thieves a couple of days ago
Three freebies = one weekly, one monthly and one in my advent (a reasonable costume I wouldn't buy, but might use)
AND the brilliant looking 4-characters in one by @lyoness - thanks very much that's a great deal and they look awesome ... So much so I didn't get the $2.99 advent calendar item (which was on my wishlist, so I will track whether it reappears another day).
I'm not spending much (I budgeted to have $2.99 per day and then "the occasional splash" - so will have the fullset of punches tomorrow and so might dip into the Artists Stores (or higher priced items on my WL if they have a base discount); should get me a discount in the high 80s range... and maybe a coupon too.
Early days but, so far, like last year, this sale has been an enjoyable and easy to use/understand (well done Daz)
My pleasure. I'm glad you are excited.
Please go make pretty pictures and post them everywhere.
...this was a rare G9 purchase as I really like the Shadow Kin characters.
On another note, aside from the Advent Calendar and other holiday specials/freebies. this is still pretty much a normal Daz sale that requires a new item "buy-in" to unlock deeper discounts Hopefully there will be a few orange banner deals and/or flash sales now and then.
it would also be nice if new release Daz+ items also qualified as a "buy in" for better discounts. With the higher prices in this category (6 - 9$) it would make the value of a membershipjust a little better.

One more point, today Inoticed there are several Daz+ items in the Featured Artist category that are listed at the standard Daz+ price.
Return of the Nice List!! And with a little setting I quite love and admired when it came out, but it just hasn't been on the priority list. Thank you to the PA and to Daz!
...and I'm also really grateful for the existance of QG and the Outlet store. Aside from the fact that it's nice to have some quality stuff at affordable-to-me prices available (and something to look forward to in the store on Mondays), it's what's keeping me from having to sit this sale out. I just did a little math and I have enough $1.99 Outlet items I'm reasonably interested in to see me through the rest of the sale, so even if QG doesn't have much to offer me on a particular week, I'm still covered for keeping my gifts unlocked even if absolutely nothing else presents itself as a justifiable purchase. And granted a lot of those $1.99s are kind of take-it-or-leave-it, but I figure when the price is diffused through the other benefits, it's definitely worth it.
OK, thanks. I finally read the explanation, I tend to reflexively ignore reading walls of text (
) , I can check my purchases for the past 3 days in my account Purchases section.
my calendar today has no free option
is this normal?
did you buy something over $1 yesterday?
"Always have a FREE option with one or more Punches"
Ugh, I didn't see that. bummer.
So far all the 'free' options have been things I wouldn't touch or have in my Runtime if you paid me. And why pay for the other item which is old, passed over and not what I wanted to start with years ago? So that calendar is a bust so far. Like last year. I have enjoyed the $1.99 items, and a few of the new releases, but have wishlisted most I liked.
Hi all
I was thinking of making some purchases after being away from Daz for some time. Foolishly stuck some things in my cart over the BF weekend, thinking that sale would extend past Monday... which it did not. Eh, just about every other softtware maker I use/am interested in has their sale last about a week past BF, but ok, Daz does not. So items in my cart are all back to being full price, rather than 50% off.
My question is, since there is "always another sale", though I am pretty unfamiliar with the Daz sales cycles or regular events:
WIll there be any other chances leading up to Xmas, at Xmas, or after Xmas for 50% off most items? Or is BF the biggest/best and I've sadly missed it?
Thanks for your wisdom in advance
The holidays sale started on Monday, which means that there are new offers every day. It's definitely possible that those items will be on sale again at some point during this month (though maybe not all at the same time), for example as part of the daily featured artist stores or another time-limited store wide sale.
Since there are daily freebies currently, checking the store every day is a good idea anyway.
The Advent Calendar works off your wishlist. So the only way you could be getting stuff that you have no interest in and "wouldn't touch" even if they paid you is if you have no Daz Originals in your wishlist (or the only ones you have in there are very very expensive to begin with)
The paid items on the calendar are not worth $2.99 to me. I didn't get a free item today, got them the last couple days and not sure why. The items themselves have been fine, though old. Nothing as silly as a hat for Cookie or whatever. I'm going to say, it's me and not the sale. Though I've got over on a couple really good promos the last couple months, I've been basically on the @richardandtracy budget. That is very limited spending!
"Each day you make a purchase over $1, you get a punch discount you can use the next day. Purchase for 3 days in a row to get 3 punches, and up to an extra 40% off your entire order. A purchase today will get you a punch tomorrow.

I have premier
so
but so far putting the advent freebie in the cart generatees aprice.
in the image ... the freebie advent which never went free and the one from today which is not showing as free.
---
So what am I missing in how the avent stuff works?
--- so apprenttly it just got fixed.
When back to the cart to take out the two items and today's oine went to free.
OK who broke the formatting on iOS, text is too tiny for me to read
just this thread
just checked, OK on Desktop Edge but iPad it's illegible
Problem for me is both the Nice List items so far are things I already owned - so nothing in there for me. I would have bought them both if I didn't already have them ;-)
The Paid item in my calendar the last 2 days has been Outlet/Quick Grab items from my Wishlist at a higher price than in the O/QG, so pass there too. Luckily the free items have also been in my Wishlist.
Nothing has grabbed me in Debut since Monday (Stonemason) and nothing from Daily HoliDaz Dealz (I missed that LY Otherkind was four characters yesterday, but Shadow Kin and Female characters aren't my thing - however finely crafted - so I'd only have use for the human male)
Luckily I've been able to find a £1.99 item to keep the punches going.
Short answer: Store wide 50% off(or more) most items(like in not new) are things that do happen relatively often. Its like regular 'fetured' artist discount, but store wide and happens on mid/late sale weekends generally.
Long answer and Important tips to consider about Daz sales:
* While it does happen from time to time, do not expect your cart to be the same from one day to the other. Sometimes even during the same day it can change (because of 'flash sales' or rotating sales like BF or bugs)
* As pointed by others already. 50% is not 'that big' discount. The key is stacking and more importantly PATIENCE. Stacking conditions do vary, some are 'cheap', some not; some require codes, some not.
* Be on the lookout for Gift Card sales. Having cheaper credit already saves you some money. What is the best you can hope? Well, i have seen over 20% off without buyout conditions, but that would be rare. Without buyout 10% off is not rare and 20% do happens every once in a while but there is no schedulle.
* Monday/tuesday you get double tokens. Outlet items (not quick grab) generally stay for some time, so you can schedulle purchases of those to build tokens if there is something there of your interest.
* If you are planning a 'big' purchase, consider memberships, DO discounts and coupons usually cover the cost unless you buy very little. Pro tip: Buy membership (if annual or premier) on monday or tuesday to get double tokens.
* Test carts, particularly when there is multiple different conditions. Sometimes you get surprised for the best. Note: If the too good discount was an error, it can change any moment; we had several of those recently where we had an amazing cart on the morning and the in the afternoon it was garbage.....and what do we say to that? 'There is always another sale'.
* Keep reading these forums for flash sales you missed or errors people find (report the ones you find).
* Have a nice wishlist, not only for the advent calendar. Extra discount on wishlist items have become a thing. Sometimes is meh, sometimes is bad discount, but sometimes it stacks very well with other discounts.
I'll add a points to what @Wolfwood listed:
* Often there are "catch-up" sales, usually on the weekends (I can't think of a mid-week catch-up, unless it was extended, but there might have been one). It's not every weekend, but sometimes in themed sales like these it can be pretty close. During a catch-up sale, all the featured artists from the time period speicified (week, sale-so-far, month, year, etc) return with their discounts, so that's often a good time to do a cart if there's a buy-in needed for discounts, as you have a bigger variety to pick from for your one buy-in. You can't ever count on them, as they're not scheduled... but they are frequent.
* There have occasionally been deals where if you buy 5 outlet and/or quick-grab items, you get an extra % off your cart (excluding othe O/QG items). Again, not scheduled, but it does pay to have some items on standby for if one of those hits and your cart is otherwise attractive enough to make it worthwhile.
* Flash sales frequently hit around 12 hours after changeover. Pays to check in again around that time to see if there's something enticing.
* The better gift card sales aren't always advertised as gift card sales. Often it's a deal for X% off your entire cart and it works on gift cards. Sometimes the fine print will say it works on gift cards. Sometimes gift cards aren't listed among the exclusions, but you can't always count on that being accurate because Daz marketing frequently neglects to disclose all their terms. Good practice is to just throw a gift card in and see if it works. If it does, check out, because there's no telling if Daz will realize they didn't actually mean for it to work and suddenly it'll jump up to full price.
The tips provided above are all great ones and very valid.
I'll add one more. If you put a cart together and you like the items and total enough to want to check out, check out. Like others have said, don't wait for a better deal. You can always make a second purchase if there's another good deal. But you can't get back a great cart you missed out on waiting for a better deal.
Good advice, with the caveat that most coupon codes are use-once. (So you can't always go back for a second round.) It's a balancing act between checking out when you're happy to lock in your deals, or risking something going wrong to squeeze a few more items into the cart.
Sales generally turn over at midnight Mountain Standard Time (Daz's time zone) and often the items that were discounted before jump up in price. They'll eventually be discounted again in a future sale.
My advice would be to read some of the forum pages, especially in this thread, to get a feel for how people reacted to past sales. That and don't be hasty - just watch for awhile, and study the shop rhythm. There are offers running constantly, and imo a strong sale happens at least every few weeks.
Sales between Christmas and New Years will probably have some deeper discounts.
Yeah, you're right. The one-time use codes (which most are) are certainly a factor. It's all a game of risk vs. reward. I'm risk-averse, so I tend to just check out when I'm happy with my cart. If a flash sale or something else comes along, I might make a second cart, or I might not. Most of the time, I'm happy with my purchases, and that's the most important part. Everyone has to take that gamble for themselves. This shop thrives on FOMO, so play the game accordingly.
Also, the "big" (extended, themed) sales are generally:
March - March Madness
June - Member Celebration
July (sometimes) Xmas in July
September - PA sale
October - Member Celebration
December - Holiday Sale
These are approximate, they sometimes start early and/or go longer. And, of course, what constitutes a "good" sale depends on what's on offer compared to your interests and your budget. There have been some big ones that were total busts for me that others thought were fantastic, and vice versa. Sometimes there are also shorter "big" sales centered around Amercian and/or Christian holidays, but that's not something I would entirely count on... either it happening or it being useful.
I think it boils down to the personal: "do I want these things now and at this price?" and if the answer to both is yes, then it's definitely checkout time. If at least one is a no, it means that you might want to wait for some other sale. There are things that I bought on release, with as little as 50% discount, because they were perfect for something I was making (and usually also triggered extra discounts on other stuff :D ), and there are things that I waited patiently for, because I didn't need them right now and then got an insanely good deals on them. Especially with the Outlet Store and Quick Grab available now, there's a chance of getting a lot of products cheap.
Also, with new releases and new sales offers daily, it's easy to fall into the trap of buying everything "right now." So: "Do I need it/want it now?" and "Am I willing to pay this much for those particular products today?" are my go-to questions that keep me from FOMO.
Plus, there was that completely bonkers St. Patrick's Day sale a couple years ago.
I guess the best advice is really to follow this thread and the current iteration of the sales reporting thread. Then you'll have a good idea of what's up with the sales from day to day.
I'm not sure how accurate that it. I made an effort to add 100+ Daz Originals to my wishlist, and thus far the only things I have been offered as "freebies" are two things for Cookie and Chip. Neither of which I have ever purchased for OR had on my wishlist. It's quite diappointing, to be honest.
