That's a very good looking portrait. What hair is that?

Pretty sure it's Dannie Hair for Genesis 9 with more volume (possibly a different shader).

The add-on bundle is way more interesting than Valenia, which unfortunately is another cookie-cutter light-skinned Daz female character.

I don't think she looks that young, she looks in her 30s to me. A lot of the female characters in this store (including the base figures) are in their late teens to early twenties, and at least this one is not that. Female characters tend to be young, or older 50+ characters. It is nice to see one that is in an age range that is more rarely seen.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
Not to mention, we recently had a couple of other ethnicities as well.
I think she's in an interesting age range, somewhere between thirty and early fifties (yes, some people do preserve that well). But she's mainly a carrier for the Dragonscale from the add-on, which you can apply to basically any character of any ethnicity.  And to me, it seems about every ethnicity has been covered in G9 variation already, so it doesn't really matter.

I personally still wouldn't mind a Lilith 9, including the whole succubus/demon/vampire thing she had going on. Or a Zelara 9 with all the alien geografts (would be nice if we could take geografts across generations, or if they just released updated versions for new generations). Because that's where the frontier is for G9: fantasy and alien stuff, ethnicities are all already covered, and whatever ethnicity they release, it's always going to be "oh, just another <insert color>" to someone.

I'd say mid-30s, but dark make-up does make her look a bit older. Natalie Portman is a good example of someone looking fit and great in her 40s. Us older ladies usually need to be resistance training to maintain that solid sort of lean-ness, otherwise even skinny starts to sag. In my mind she should either have a bit more muscle definition or a bit more sag to pass for 40s.

Some tests of her HD. Eyebrows don't suit her, so I swapped them out for all but the first image. Nasolabial folds in the sculpt don't line up with the crease in the materials, although it could be a visual trick with they way the material line kind of feathers towards the mouth corners.

    With Joan.

    With Julian.

  • in the Valenia 9 promo image I believe she is wearing the Aetheris, just the under garment part of it without the dress, but it also shows gold rings being worn on her thighs which do not seem to come with the Aetheris. Do they come with it or is that some other item she is wearing on her legs in that picture?

  • Was someone able to get Valentina? (Premium character for Valenia)

I just tried on my Daz Studio but looks like she's not available yet

@drip  I think the phrase may really be shorthand for the character is boring,  We already have so much of that. I usually skip the character bundle figure in favor of a more interesting figure from a pa. I bought the harpy's add on pack, and I'll get the dragon pack when the time is right.. It's gorgeous!

Beyond that, the figures in the character bundles these days do seem to have a cookie cutter quality. Everything extra is stripped out to the point that even an alternate skin color is a separate product. And, of course, the hd component is a separate product. It is what it is. I'm not getting premier to get those character bundles. I'm probably not alone there.

It would be interesting to go through and count the number of g9 hd character bundle figures to see if there really is a disproportionate number of light skinned or Caucasian females compared to the rest. It could just be an inaccurate perception. But it does seem to come up a lot. And of course, the Daz sale page seems to be a never ending parade of g9 female figures, clothing and accessories, but that's a different topic.

There's a list of all G9 core figures in this thread, if you want to do the math

That simplifies things. Thanks. I'll take a look later.

Valenia is my choice for the free character bundle this month. I really like her as-is; I haven't tried any of the blends with other characters yet though I'm looking forward to those experiments.

she didn't strike me as anything more or less than the usual character releases. Or is that more of the same, simply put.

I guess I see them differently, and that's OK; to be expected, even. I'm glad I waited to the end of the month to use the character coupon.

i think pretty much every character hits each person overall a different way, unless there is something glaring bad or good. None of them are really to be ignored, but there might come a time when what you already have is pretty much the same as what is coming out new. Its why I ow tend to look more at very different characters, many from Matari 3D, Kooki, and a few others.  Kooki99 vs. Victoria 9

  • I am still deciding if I want to use Premier on her character bundle (It's not like there's any other bundle in the selection I like better) or just WL the hair & the add-on until I like the prices on them. That add-on bundle is very appealing, especially since I didn't get Ava & the harpy add-on.

She's very pretty & I like the addon dragon wings & tail but I was hoping for a traditional Thanksgiving theme. So instead I used my Premier coupon for something a bit more uncommon in all it's weirdness: Cider Brewery Character Bundle | Daz 3D

I'd take close look at the included outfit to make sure Daz got the seem issue fixed. Someone posted a very clear pic in the Cider Brewery discussion thread

The Armor Dragonscale looks sick AF. Props for the artist who made it. Really good. I'll grab it for sure eventually.

What's with the eyebrows? They look quite weird in closeup.

Not sure why this popped into my head as I was waking up, but could Valenia's bone structure be the way it is because she morphs into a dragon-type being and is able to fly? Or would her rib cage actually need to be larger to support the wing structure rather than smaller? Or is she related to a bee?

Scales works nicely with other characters. For example:

  • Actually I like the looks of her. But middle aged? Me thinks not. I also dig many of feng's characters too mostly the older aged figures.

  • Someone got her????

Not able yet to download Valentina on my DS Premier.....indecision

Nope, we have sent in a reminder but it probably won't be added to our accounts before the beginning of the week.

Well, that's OK. After all, she's free.

I was wondering who Valenia 9 reminds me of and why I like this character so much & it's because she favours Eileen Brennan!

I thought she was just a younger version of Victoria 9. Or a dial-spin mix with Valenia and Victoria.

It's the 5th day after the release of Valenia......still no Valentina in my DAZ Premium library!

What's happening??? I am not expecting this kind of service as a D1 buyer!

I'm not sure how fully daz was working yesterday, but they would have had a backlog of stuff from the holiday even if they were going flat out (not to mention autopsying the weekend sales). If it doesn't get added today we will follow up.

    I like the Aetheris dress.

I like the dress too particularly the dragon scales effect on some of the textures :) And a nice touch: the chainmail version (I'm not sure it's such a great idea to wear chainmail directly on the skin though)  has a texture that seems properly cut, so no ring cut in the middle like I saw on other products (likely made using a seamless chainmail texture).

    A question and a remark:

Does someone know why when the dress is loaded with the outfit preset, it's loaded with an addon (I suppose it's related to dForce ?) but not when it's loaded as a 'standalone' item?

A weight mapped push modifier is advertised in one of the promo pictures, but it's nowhere to be found, either on the dress loaded with the outfit preset or with the 'standalone' preset (that one is easy enough to fix on my end though).
