Unwanted JCMs

Okay, I have an issue where a bunch of JCMs unrelated to my current morphs like to dial in when I pose a character which as you can imagine makes it kind of look terrible. Do you know anything to help fix that to keep them from activating when they're not needed?

  • JCMs for joint corrections or for other purposes? If the former, are the bones in the fitted item, if that is what is at issue?

You can see what may be triggering a moprh by clicking the gear icon on its slider>Parameter Settings and then looking at the Controllers tab in the bottom half of the dialogue.  If you cannot currently see the slider you will need to turn on Show Hidden Properties in the parameters pane option menu under Preferences (the option menu is the lined/"hamburger" button in the top corner, or right-click the tab); you can also of course just zero the value in the slider.

Yeah. Trying to figure out how to side step it so they don't actrivate.

So have you identified what these JCMs are? so that correct advice can be given.

it's a particular character or product's JCMs that are activating? Richard's advice for finding what is controlling the JCM can tell you which product the unwanted JCM relates to.  I would advise to uninstall that character/product and inform vendor. It shouldnt be our job as customer to fix problem they caused.  They should make update/patch.

Yes. Over a dozen of them on both G8/8.1 Male and Female.

I'd like to know how to fix it myself because I use a number of those morphs and would like to not have to remove half my library because a number of the morphs kicking on are Daz characters as well.

    1. File bug reports. I personally think you should name the characters so when people search the forums about faulty character they will find this thread.

    2. Two options to fix

    • Option 1: Non-permanent solution. Identify any JCMs which shouldnt be active under 'currently used'.  Disconnect/unlink the faulty JCMs so they are no longer controlled by their drivers, and set them to zero, as per what Crosswind described here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/9359131/#Comment_9359131
    • Option 2: Permanent solution.  Update controllers via the Property Heirarchy and resave the updated modifier assets so they overwrite the originals (may want to take backup first if you are worried).
      • Parameters > Preferences > Show Hidden Properties
      • Paramaters tab > go into Edit Mode (right click a parameter and choose Edit Mode)
      • Parameters tab > Find the faulty JCM  > Right click > Show in Property Heirarchy
      • Property Heirarchy tab > Go to Controllers> Stage 2
      • Drag over the character's Body morph from Parameters tab into the Property Heirarchy tab Multiply slot
      • File > Save As > Support Asset > Save Modified Assets (or you can manually save out indiidual Modifier Asset(s) to relevant content library)

    Again, this is vendor's job.
