    Yes, that is very annoying. It's a poor implementation.
    If it is mostly hair and clothing on characters, that you hide and show selectively, Wearables Manager might be for you.

    Oh cool - thanks. I just picked up @matew's Morph Master during the sale for it's abiity to handle multipe colliders for smoothing and creating morphs so smoothing modifiers can be turned off:
