Cider Brewery Bundle Thoughts & Feelings

https://www.daz3d.com/cider-brewery-character-bundle

They are quirky and charming - I just don't know that I would ever use them. My first thought was "VeggieTales for grownups?"* LOL

Seriously, though. I have no idea how I'd use the characters themselves. One or 2 ideas for the other parts. I could do a mid-credits style superhero scene with the brewery. I don't normally use skimpwear like the Strawbellina set. However, Doc Angel, my cyberpunk surgeon character, thinks it is a fantastic party outfit, and has practical boots, too.** Are those reasons enough to get the set.

**Yes, like some authors, I am convinced my characters talk to me. And yes, the good doctor & I have very different fashion senses.

  • The only uses for that I can think of are pretty horror based. Like are they murdering their fellow fruit people to brew the drinks? Or is it...something...else...since they are...all...anatomically...correct...?

Either way, seems real weird and a bit gross to me.

At first glance, I kind of thought I might be able to use the outfit, but on closer inspection, there's definitely something wrong with the tiling on the fishnet bodystocking.

Look up from the finger of the woman on the left - all misaligned tiling:

It'd be one thing if the pattern misalignment was at the established seam - that would make sense - but having it there is just going to make things that use it look like an AI generated scene.

There's similar disjoints on the legs too.

As far as the fruit headed characters - unique, but I don't think it's really something I can use outside of some trippy dream sequence.

The one thing that's potentially of use to me is the Brewery, and I might get that on its own, but the rest of the set doesn't seem useful to me.

There are authors who think their characters don't talk to them?

I bought the brewery room by itself. One can never have too many taverns.

Definitely niche! Ilike the body sculpts, though, and they seem to be separate from the heads. Does one of the orangey ones have double nipples? And I'm not sure what those male-female promo mixes are trying to convey. What's the Venn diagram market for fruit headed people and women with male bits look like? It can't be particularly large, can it?

Yikes I missed that bad tiling and now I won't be able to NOT see it. It's geometry and not fixable with other shaders, right? Not that I should need to fix it. So much for that outfit.

Perhaps I ought to edit that footnote to "authors who admit their characters talk to them"?

@Ainm The male gens are probably to make the characters trans inclusive. If so why do the male-presenting Applejack Gang promos only show the default Barbie/Ken look? F to M trans people exist too. I don't do nudes but shouldn't those be included too, or were they just not shown?

I think I am talking myself out of anything but the brewery. Or skipping that as well and setting my mid-credit scene in a pizza place or a tailgate party. I don't have to get more stuff.

The double nipples might be a postwork issue. They're exactly aligned with the mirror of the nipples on the left figure. Otherwise it raises a question of compatibility with nipple morphs, texture aligmnets, etc with that figure.

    "Limongina" might be the clue.

My characters know better than to talk to a weirdo like me.

As for the topic, these are extremely limited use characters. Maybe with some recolor/retexturing you could create OCs from them. If nothing else I want appears by end of month, I might use my free bundle on this set for the tavern/distillery.

First thing I thought about when seeing these figures was a '90s TV show with girls wearing few clothes and fruit patches (from the third season on and from the start in the german version) on their mammalian protuberances (not on the bikini top, but on their skin). The show was italian (Colpo Grosso) but there was a german version (Tutti Frutti) made in the same italian studio with the same girls.

Candidates had to do different games and bet money tokens, which could refilled by taking of their clothes. And they could use the tokens to "buy" pieces of clothing to be taken off by the "fruit girls".

So... my only reason not to buy those figures is the fact that they are - of course - G9 wink

    Rule 34.

I like gender-all-inclusiveness, just on principle. Not that I can think of a single thing I'd do with fruit-people of any gender except maaaaybe size them way down and use them as dolls/action figures? I could see a couple of my characters finding something like that at a thrift store and just getting the giggles so hard at the sheer absurdity of it all that they'd bring them home, and it would become a game for both of them to move the doll(s) around the house when the other wasn't looking. So you'd walk into the room and one was having tea, or reading a book, or upside-down with a foot caught in the overhead light...

...okay yeah now I'm just way too amused by that thought and they're going on the wishlist.

...and out of curiosity, I tossed the strawberry person + add-on in my cart to see what they'd do. Realized that if I added one token and my DO coupon, and they came down to 37-cents for the two of them. Couldn't quite get free because adding more tokens + the coupon kicked the tokens out. Really wasn't holding my breath for anything specific for that coupon, so... heck, sure, why not. Absurd fruit-doll fun incoming. I was trying to figure out something light-hearted to render anyhow.

ETA: good thing I hadn't checked out yet! Based on a tip from the reporting thread, I added a cheapie QG I was going to get anyway, and with that in the cart I could add a second token and get the two down to $5.96 pre-coupon. So looks like I saved my 37-cents!

It seems to overlap the patterns, so it implies it's actually textures that were made that way, perhaps from a texture painting tool that applied it badly.

Retexturing should theoretically fix it, although might need some work to retain details you want.

Not necessarily (although that's certainly something that could be done).

In this case, it makes it possible to swap in a male body morph, but without the potentially misunderstanding of the vendor showcasing a morph that wasn't actually in the product.

If so why do the male-presenting Applejack Gang promos only show the default Barbie/Ken look? F to M trans people exist too. I don't do nudes but shouldn't those be included too, or were they just not shown?

Bear in mind that there's a mix of PAs in the product, and not everything has been made to the exact same way.

I love playing around with shaders and textures, but I don't think I want to do so just to make a brand new product look like it should.

That's the only part of the bundle I bought as well. It's a cool environment!

If one makes the heads less fruity (taking the strawberry bumps out and such), they could be useful for scenes with personified emotions, I reckon. Like in that cute movie where Fear and Anger and all of them live inside this girl's head - gee, I really can't think of the name right now. Anyways, I could imagine they could be adapted for something like this. They're definitely not for me though.

I bought the brewery only. The characters, while fun, aren't anything I see myself ever using.

Removed all maps except Cutout Opacity.
In this map one can see the areas, that needs some corrections.

I am on the fence. It was a weird shock, and then a good laugh, at seeing nude fruit creatures. I don't like the human looking bodies on them so I will use RawArt's tree ent bodies instead. I willl probably change the irises as well and maybe use "alien eyes" or something. I will get the bundle though before December rollls around.

  • I suspect I'd probably render the characters as something to place onto a TV screen in a larger scene, which is also one of the reasons I sometimes buy cartoon characters.  Or maybe they'd be characters on a holodeck in one of my space-opera stories.
