So I can load DS content from my external drive, but it doesn't show content that is older or is in poser format. How do I get Daz to recognize these things on my external drive?
Assuming you are using DIM or manuel installation.
What does you content libraries path look like? Go to Edit > Preferences > Content > Content Directory Manager, and expand Daz Studio and Poser formats.
Tried a screenshot but it says it's too many characters long. I have content on both my C drive and the D drive, but older stuff only shows up in contents if I install it to the C drive.
Don't paste an image diectly into your post, it won't show even if it isn't over the post size limit. Click Attach a file under the post text box, then click the Browse button, and select a saved image.
I'd like to have most stuff on my D drive. For example I recently purchased the V4 Ranger by 3D Universe, which I tried to manually install on my D drive, but it only worked when I installed on the C drive.
I didn't use DIM, when I tried to install it manually on the D drive it seemed to work but only the material files showed up in D drive contents. C drive is for stuff that doesn't work on D drive. How do I add D drive to poser format?

Same way you added it to DAZ Studio Formats - open Content Directory Manager, expand the "+" sign next to Poser Formats, click on the Poser Formats line, Add Directory (from the left hand side of the panel) and select your directory - when you've done that it should look exactly the same as the Daz Studio Formats section.
Indeed it can - NONE of my Daz content is on my C: drive - even the program is on an internal HDD - about a third of my content is on the internal HDD, the larger part is on an external drive.

My external drive (D) comes under New Content Set 2 and has CMC cluster box ticked, and other import formats box ticked.
Please post a screenshot.
And what are you using the external drive for?

When I select the image it shows up under the browse button, but says no file selected, and when I click on the image nothing happens.
Or maybe it worked, I'm not sure.
We need to see the Current Directories, at the top, not one of the saved sets, whichj may or may not match the current.
Not sure if this is what you mean.
You have D:My Daz 3D... for Daz Studio format, that is good. Could also have it in Poser format, dependent on your content.
What do you have on the D drive, and how are you installing there?

Where is DIM pointing to install?
What happened when you tried to install it manually?
And what do you intend to use C drive to?
V4 Ranger https://www.daz3d.com/v4-ranger
Is listed as a Poser product, so for that you need to add the D-drive to your Poser format.

Content can be placed on any drive you want, as long as it is correctly configured.

That seems to have worked, thank you for that.
