I would get Premier if...
If Daz expands Premier Character Bundle selection.
There's only one bundle I want in the current selection. Everything else I either own or don't want. And, with the current coupon for an extra free bundle, that means my regular free bundle coupon would get wasted.
As a result, I've been holding off on getting Premier. Without Premier, I didn't spend any money this sale. I would've spent quite a bit if I had the membership. Is anyone else in a similar situation?
Also, any thoughts on why Daz limits the selection. I can't think of a good marketing reason for it. Why not just leave all core Genesis 9 character bundles in the selection and let people choose what they want? Or at least put up more of the recent bundles like Charlie9, Bishop 9, Cecelia 9, Julian 9. Thoughts?

They might limit the selection, or swap bundles in and out, for a marketing FOMO strategy. I don't think it's a good strategy for the bundle selection, and I wish they'd just keep them all there so we have better options all the time.
But with Premier generally, the savings you get with extra tokens are also really good. So if you spend a bit in the store, it's worth getting, even if there isn't a free bundle you like. And the new character bundles are eligible for the coupon upon release so if you like a new release and have your coupon, it feels good to be able to use it for some newer products, which is cool.
I might well get Premier if..
It worked out cheaper and didn't tie an appreciable proportion of my monthly discretionary spending to one hobby.
Trouble is.. it does not seem to be cheaper (particularly as a base member, I am unable to see easily how much things would be in the shop if I were a Premier member, unlike Rendo's 'Prime' equivalent) and it does tie up a lot of my money to one market place. Which means machine tool tips couldn't be bought, pen making blanks couldn't be bought and threads for embroidery may be difficult to purchase. There are other hobbies I do too in addition to DS.
Regards,
Richard
So far each new core character bundle is in the selection for its first few weeks - which is great for people who always buy the latest core bundle. I'm not one of them. When I buy a character/bundle (core or not), it is because it is both unusual and something I like & will use. I do always use my bundle coupon since I don't have so many of the older bundles.
I would also love to see some Add-on bundles, for older core characters. That is where most/all themed items (holiday, samurai) ended up when Daz split pro bundles into the new (& tinier) Character/Add-on format. Many users who aren't into G9 have requested G8/8.1 bundles and I wouldn't mind. Maybe starter bundles, since the size difference wouldn't be so obvious.
Now I do agree there needs to be a larger selection than 15, the largest pool I recall. A pool that is even smaller if you aren't new to DS. Even though I am not a devoted core collector, my choice is limited to 8 of the 10 currently offered. Very rarely Daz has a deal where they expand the selection to 20 or 30 for a few days. That would be a good compromise between a dozen and allowing every bundle. Members would have much more choice and it would still offer the FOMO effect @NetherFalcon mentioned.
I also wish the selection changed on a predictable schedule, like Quick Grab. Right now, there is a pattern of changing out some bundles a day or 2 after a new core release. However, Daz also does so randomly and it's random how long a given bundle stays or if they return. Some bundles - Lahr, Calypso, Pixie etc. - were in the initial set, but only recently dropped out, and Pixie has returned. Niketa showed up for less than a week, and I am happy I used my coupon for her.
Not necessarily changing every week, or even the whole selection each time. But switching out a few of the older bundles on a monthly or bimonthly basis, coupled with at least 30 total bundles, would work for me.
They rotate them in & out but the pickings are pretty sparse now.
Premier goes beyond just the free bundle. You get $10 off a DO product. Reduces the cost of Premier right away by $10. Prices are lower for sure overall, especially on DO products If you do spend here, the tokens add up pretty fast, especially on Monday and Tuesday when they are doubled. If you care to, there are more options within DAZ Studio for you to use. The bad, if you do not continue your subscription, you lose the use of those, as well as "special" character for core characters. I think Premier is pretty good if you buy a decent amunt of product.
What I do is buy a month when sales are happening, then cancel and resubscribe when it makes sense.
I have got premier for a month at the holidays to capitalize on specific deals in the holiday sale. I get Daz+ a month at a time here and there to get outlet store pricing, too. I don't see any of that changing, except when life throws me zingers and I have to sit out. Not interested in a year of anything right now.
There's not enough product that interests me to maintain Daz+, Premier isn't even a consideration. Male clothing is all but impossible to search for in the store, male characters aren't released often enough, and when they are, I don't think the quality if good enough to warrant my purchase. Only a couple of PAs seem to be interested in shaping the body - especially the chest - beyond the Daz default male shape.
..I would consider it if they included an architectural, scene setting, vehicle, or props bundle instead of just G9 char afters..
I'd count myself in the category where I just don't buy enough for it to make sense for me at $200. However, they recently hooked me on a deal where it was on sale for $149 and you got an extra bundle and an extra $10 off on anything and I think maybe a %70 off special coupon. At this time there were 2 bundles I wanted valued at in one case $99 and another was a bit more full retail. Then I red how you accumulate more tokens for each buck spent. It came into focus that I'd be paying something more like $30 for the Premier and the discounts would continue for a year. THAT did make sense this year. Unless some new bundles come along that are just redubs of older concepts I'm not sure I'd do this for another year. At present I think I got a very gfood value.
I'd probably get it for a month here or there when there's a sale that would offset the investment... if doing so didn't nuke my paid-up-till-Jan-2027 D+ subscription (which I bought before Premier became a thing).
But I really don't care about the character bundles, and there are a lot of months I spend less than what the membership would cost, so the math just isn't mathing for it to be worthwhile, no matter how much they hype it.
No shade to the PAs... there are a lot of quality products coming out! It's just that I don't have a use for most of them.
I don't want any content that relies on DAZ Connect. I don't want content that disappears.
I don't care about all the special DAZ Studio features. None of them interest me.
...I likely wouldn't be able to use most of those special features as I'm still on Win 7 and thus on an older version of Daz (4,21)..
... if it was a one time payment, instead of subscription model.
The Premier character bundle selection were good, or balanced, or even maybe consistent. I almost joined last year when Lucas was released, but a week or two after his release he was no longer on the bundle page. There just is not enough content that I like to warrant any membership beyond Base.
I won't log into DAZ Studio just for a character(s). I have only seen a few that I would even buy if offered the chance. Putting the upgrade of a plug-in that I love and own behind a paywall just ticked me off. I don't care for the Adobe model in the least.
Tried hopping on and off for a few months and I ended up more on than off, so I ran the math and decided to grab the annual sub. Daz seems to have recalibrated most of its sales for Premier customers, and if one's shopping goal is buying cool new toys, building out a library or acquiring random stuff on-demand for projects, the faster token buildup, generally better discounts in big sales, and cheaper gift cards definitely make Premier worth it.
Hard to resist those FW Design Daz+ brutalist environments that pop up every month, so I know I'll at least be buying those. :)
That said, having escaped other software/service subscriptions before, subbing for a year (even discounted) was a hard sell, just to have the same shopping experience as what Daz Plus used to be. On principle it feels like a value loss and a way to shift more dollars to Daz and away from PAs. It's hard to justify a gigantic up-front price tag in the middle of any big sale. Also feels risky paying that far in advance after seeing how Daz handled prepaid Daz Plus subscriptions at Premier's debut. I guess it is what it is.
Thoughts on Premier benefits:
(Caveat: high base prices for older items has eroded the value of this coupon significantly, but it can also be used selectively to break that floor.)
I let my Premier subscription lapse in October. The fact that I did so during a promotion intended to generate additional subscribers ought to tell Daz something.
1. I'm not finding enough of the new releases to be compelling, limiting the benefit of a pay-for-discount scheme.
2. In the same vein, I think most Genesis 9 character bundles are underwhelming. For most months, I was redeeming the coupon code for a character bundle that could end up as pure Install Manager clutter.
3. The inapplicability of coupon codes and tokens for Outlet and Quick-Grab items erodes the value of coupon codes and tokens.
4. My purchases vary from month to month to such a degree that subscribing for a month or two then canceling makes more sense than maintaining a monthly or annual subscription. Difficult to see why I would need the membership for more than three or four months of the year.
...same here, I find them useful and love the architectural style
Yeah, that also applies to the Daz+ coupons as well
That would make me a bit more interested If I could do the same for an architectural, environment, or props bundle even if it costs less than the character one. I have more than enough characters to work with. .
There is only Ally 9 Character Bundle and Pixie 9 Character Bundle for me to choose from currently, I've not even a large number of these character bundles and that is all there is?
I ended up getting the anual premier. I have very little G9 and is a good way to slowly stock with some core characters. I do hope they release something interesting or add more to current selection that is very poor.
About the perks of Premier, i don't exactly agree with them. The extra features i might try them because i have a complete year now, but i still think they should sell them too to non premier.
The extra shapes/daz connect exclusive is a BIG NO even if i have a complete year. Having a scene and one day opening it only to find it changed because you no longer have part of the content is something that is just (IMO) wrong.
Daz eventually changed the pricing and added discounted anual options, i do hope they change how the 'exclusives' work. For me it would be better that the extra shapes just be free for members on release (like daz+ weekly).

Yes, I agree. I do download them but won't use them as there use is tied to a forever subscription. I am certain that that probably hurts Premier membership recruitment more than it helps. OK, saying certain and probably to describe the same thing is contradictory & cheating.
Regarding the extra DAZ Studio build-in features, although I'd like to be able to buy them in a one off, I really can't argue that it hurts recruitment to Premier membership more than helps.
I would upgrade to Premier if instead of a coupon for a monthly Gen 9 Bundle, I got a coupon for a monthly Stonemason release.
