How to make strand based hair use less VRAM

So I made a fur coat using strand based hair becuase finding an actual puffy fur coat that looks good isnt workinf but to get it to render I can have only a handful of things in a scene which is making it impossible to use, I have 16GB of Vram and nvidia 3080, I have the fair set to fairly rough, and I used scene optimizer for everything else but im starting to think this just isnt possible.

if anyone knows ways to make it use less VRAM im all ears

    How did you make it?

If using the SBH Editor, then do the following

    1) Paremeters > Render Tesselation Sides = 1

    2) In Editor, in the Style tab you can change the segment length of the main guides and the interpolated hairs to a higher value (this means less poly per hair)

    3) In Editor, reduce density

You can try setting dForce and/or iRay to use the cpu instead of the gpu.

not Strandbased Editor hair for non PAs

    no Dforce

That's why I avoid SBH dforce hair.
As a non PA, your editing possibilities are limited ( on purpose!)

It depends how the PA set it up.  All of them will be limited in the one way I assume you mean, which is you cant restyle them easily, but some of them should permit you to adjust all the PR hair generation parameters in surface tab like density and segments etc. But as i say, it depends if the PA is generating all the children hair in daz or if they arent.
