Is it possible to change an imported surface into an iray surface?

Imported a file from blender.  When I tried to put the texture on, it only lays down a single flat color.  I think it's because of the surface type.  I'm not sure.

Anyone know?  Really appreciate the help.

You can apply a shader (e.g Iray Uber base if you just want the generic Iray sahder for setting up from scratch) to any selected surface on any seelcted object. Your issue isn't applying the shader, it is that there are no UVs to tell Iray (or Filamanet or 3Delight) how to wrap a map around the model - I guess in Blender it was using some kind of projection mode.

What file format did you import into DS, OBJ format ?  If importing an OBJ format file, DS will give it Iray Uber Shader as default... no matter with or without UV coordinates.

But if you've done UV unwrapping in Blender as well as assigned tex. maps, you should export UV + Normals with OBJ ~

Edit: If you a frequent Blender user who makes things for being used in DS, you also can consider using this product: https://www.daz3d.com/blender-to-daz-studio-plugin, which will significantly speed up your workflow as well as avoid issues / errors AMAP.

Thank you both.  I'll give the plug-in a look.

Some things made in Blender for Blender are using procedural shader trees, and you wont be able to reproduce those in Daz Studio unless youre some genius at procedural shading in Daz. So if that's the case, they need to be baked into simple texture maps first.

Ha!  Well, I'm not a genius of any sort!  LOL
