DS compatibility different than DS 4.8?

Months ago I purchased a background that was for DS, I couldn't load it and Daz3d graciously gave me a refund. Since then I have not purchased any DS items, I've only purchased DS 4.8 items. I want to get some dynamic clothing, but most of them seem to be designed for DS only. If I were to purchase an item that was only compatible for DS, I wouldn't be able to use it with my DS 4.8, correct? Thanks!

    No, not correct...the compatiblity listed is the MINIMUM version required to use the item.  There are very few things that have a 'maximum' version.

    Make sure what you are buying is not just a texture set or some other add-on that requires another model.
