MB Xaria - too shiny

Hi there,

this may be a noobish question - I just got Magic Brush's Xaria after being swayed by the nice promo pics. However, when loading her into DAZ, she has almost glowing skin. I've included a picture with Victoria as a comparison, using a Click'n'Render-Preset. A snippet from the promos is on the right.

I tried messing with the surface settings, looking for reflectivity and the like, but I don't really know much about how all the knobs and sliders work together. Is there something I can fix, or does the promo use a particular environmental setting?

Cheers!

Your lighting looks too bright and is blowing out the skin.

Different characters react differently to lights, you'll have to go through your lights library and see what works well with her. It's a bit annoying, but usually one can find good set ups. I would also agree with Fishtales that you seem to have some very bright spotlights in your preset that work well for Vicky, but not for Xaria. Maybe try changing these as well, dimming them, moving them or turning them off altogether and see what the result is. Happy rendering!

OK, I'll keep trying. Thank you both!

I have her, too - if I find the time over the weekend, I will try her out with different lights and post the results if no one else chimes in before.

Probably also change Burn Highlight from the new default of 1 to 0.2-0.25 in Render Setting > Tonemapper.

That makes a noticable difference, thanks!
