Any helping hand for a PA on update overload?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently going through a general update campaign for my WHOLE catalog including scripts: improving stability, refining workflows, and addressing user feedback gathered over time. These updates also include compatibility improvements to support the widest range of Daz Studio versions possible (DS 4 and DS 2025).
After recent discussions with the Daz Team, it’s better if I wait for a more stable version of the Daz Studio 6 scripting API before submitting these as updates or new versions of the products — but that doesn’t prevent me from preparing everything in advance, hoping for only minor final changes in case of API modifications.

I already submitted such updates (not tested yet), and after what I thought were solid personal internal tests, I still found two significant mistakes amongst the four submitted products a couple of days after submission -fortunately before QA caught them.

That was a wake-up call: doing all this alone is becoming an epic solo mission, and a few extra pairs of eyes would really help make the next releases more reliable. Between DS4 and DS6 builds, small API changes, encrypted files, and all the cross-version behavior that needs to stay consistent, plus the new features, it’s getting really hard for me alone to spot every potential issue in isolation.

So I’m looking for one or two experienced users per product, willing to help test specific updates before submission.

I’ll provide the packages and short task notes each time — nothing heavy, just practical checks in real-world conditions. It’s OK if you cannot test on several Daz Studio versions, it still helps! You’ll get to test and keep the product (or my eternal gratitude if you already own it), and you’ll genuinely help me make this whole process smoother.

Each time I'll finish an update, I'll come back here to mention it and I'll also post on the commercial thread of the specific project, so that you can see if you're interested or not.

If you’re already interested "in general" or "on some specific products", you can already reply here or send me a PM.

I’ll handle all coordination and make sure it’s easy on your side, plus you can stop or change your mind at any time. It’s help, not a contract XD. I owe you, you don’t owe me.

Thanks for reading — and for anyone willing to lend a hand, it truly means a lot.

More than happy to help! Older generation products with dependencies might be hit or miss (I guess any might be hit or miss, but I have more gen8 and above content), but I'm willing to test whatever you need!

    Wonderful, thank you so much!
For now, I have Scene Optimizer, which was submitted not too long ago, so I guess there’s still time for additional tests, and Maps Copier Gatherer Renamer, which I’m holding off on updating for the moment.
The other products I’ve already submitted are probably too far along in the QA queue to include them.
Would you be interested in testing Scene Optimizer or Maps Copier Gatherer Renamer, or would you rather skip those two (which I would totally understand)?

Count me in, I would be happy to help you out with a little bit of testing.

Who knows it might even inspire me to try something new in my artwork.

    @V3Digitimes,

Hello.  If you need another to test drive Scene Optimizer, I can help.  I’ve had Scene Optimizer for nearly four years and love it.  I’m running Daz Studio 4.21 and 4.24 Beta on my laptop and version 4.24 on my new desktop.  I’ve intentionally not downloaded version 2025 yet.

I'm somewhat past the beginner level and not super tech savvy, and not planning to make the leap to the latest-and-greatest DS builds, so I understand if that's not useful in this situation. But if it is useful in any subset of your testing, count me in. Super appreciate your efforts on this and would be honored to contribute.

Either or both. :) I have scene optimizer, so I'm familiar with it. I don't have the other, but I'd be happy to test it.

    Wow, thank you all!
I had posted a few months ago on the commercial thread but it was complete silence, so I’m really happy to see I won’t be alone to check everything is fine for this crazy updates session ! You all made my day, really!

What I’m gonna do now is prepare a package and a small procedure text (probably a PDF) so that the switch between the current and the new version is ensured (this is where I failed), as well as a script to make sure the previous version is no longer seen (uninstalled or unreferenced content folder) before the new version is tested (which was a trap I fell in!).
I’ll contact you during the weekend or early next week via MP, I think it will be the most efficient way to share documents.

Seriously, you just saved my sanity. I’ll prepare everything properly before I contact you : clear steps, clean install, and no headaches. Thanks a lot again!

Speaking only for myself, but I rarely remember to check the commercial forums, so I'm glad you posted here. :)

I've done testing in the past and have got plenty of free time these days so if you still need people I would be happy to help.

@SilverGirl : That makes sense! Thanks for the info...
@Scorpio : Wonderful ! With so many people, I should gain a lot of time on the update process!

This is a huge longshot. Any chance you could turn Light Manager PRO into a plugin. :) :) Having panel with all the lighting stuff in one place would make one my favorite scripts even better. (Yes, I realize you'd probably have to wait until the 2025 plugin API becomes stable. Just putting it out there.)

I could help. I'm not much of an expert in Daz but I am a programmer by trade. I also have far more of your script products than I realized. :)

I'll keep an eye out! :) Glad you posted here!

And me too! I honestly had no idea there was such a huge difference in visibility between two sub-sections of the forum ! I should have posted here ages ago!

I’m still working on the package and the little “how-to” guide, trying to make it clear enough for all user levels. I didn’t get as much done this weekend as planned, since on Friday I actually managed to unsend the update (huge thanks to Daz for that one!)… so I finally took a rest to come back with a fresh brain.

The bright side is, we now have all the time we need to test everything properly, without any pressure. So we can take it easy and make sure this new major bi-compatible version of the Optimizer runs perfectly before the final submission. Hurray!

Sorry just saw your post as I was gathering the names of the volunteers for the tests. Yes it would make sense to make this as a pluggin, but I would then do it for DS 6 only, and windows only. Never made a pluggin, it will also depend on how well documented the new plugin API will be...
