took a few too many  times a decade ago before I made myself administrator and set everything to notify me for everything before doing updates and not do them unless I allowed it

I am so glad todays Windows 10 update was successful, was apprehensive accepting it, lots of peoples computers got wrecked by the latest one, they want us on 11 but the TPM crap means I cannot and also simply don't want to on this rig, Microsoft is a pushy B

    Google Ai

Change your user account to be an administrator

    1. Open Settings: Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
    2. Go to Accounts: Click on "Accounts".
    3. Navigate to other users: Select "Family and other people" from the menu on the left.
    4. Choose your account: Click on the account you want to change.
    5. Change account type: Click on the "Change account type" button.
    6. Set as administrator

    1. Press Windows key on the keyboard or click on the search bar.
    2. Type Edit Group Policy
    3. Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates >  All Settings >  Configure Automatic Updates.
    4. Under Configure automatic updating, Click on Edit policy settings.
    5. Click on Select Enabled option.
    6. Select second option labelled Notify for download and notify for install. Don’t make any changes in rest of the settings.

its literally been a decade since I had to do this and Googled every step myself

my current PC actually had it all set up by the person who built it for me, I specify everything no bloatware etc always get a bare bones Windows install, had to install all my own open source software etc

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the effort. I will try it out in a little while.

There's an old tutorial here for how to block Windows 10 updates, but unless something has changed since, it only works for the pro version.

Had it happen. That's that moment, where you just want to kick down doors.

For extra bonus annoyance, it always seems to happen on those times when you forgot to hit save before you hit render.

Sod, Murphy's big brother, looked down upon you and proclaimed "Today, you are my plaything!" I hate Sod with a passion, he has way too much free time.
