Vintage TV Sets

Wow! Good show!
I remember TVs like that. Back when it took two beefy men to move your new 19" or 21" black & white set into your house, or take it to the shop when it needed repairs (which was not infrequent).
Some early Bakelite cabinets. And in the 50s, the fine quality sets had solid wood cabinets of maple, oak, cherry or walnut. And when the TV died and went to TV Heaven you could convert the cabinet into storage space and tables. Saw my first TV in 1953, it had a 10" screen.

Yes, they were instant buy for me.
The only problem I have is that it's not that easy to add an image into the screen. Or maybe I'm just trying the wrong surface?
We got our first tv in the fifties as well. We couldn't afford it but dad was a minister and the congregation bought it for us for Chirstmas one year. It had a beautiful oak cabinet but I don't remember watching it much except for two things: Queen Elizabeth's coronation (we gradeschoolers were allowed to walk home to watch if we had a tv) and George Gobel. George sang a song I remember to this day because I got in trouble for singing it around the house 'Oh my mother-in-law, I know that her daugher can't even boil water, but oh my mother-in-law when will she ever go home'. The problem was that Granny, mom's mom, was living with us at the time.
