Question about Toyen's dForce SBH for G9

I am interested in Toyen's dForce Balla Ponytail https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-balla-ponytail-for-genesis-9. However, all Toyen's hairs based on the promos are too uniformly dense for me. I don't know if I am describing it correctly but they look like hairs stylized and thickened with a TON of hairsprays (in this hair's case probably how it was done during its heday). I am wondering if this is something that can be adjusted in SBH settings or some shader preset product. I would like the hairstrands of the Balla Ponytail to look like those made by Princess_pa such as this:  https://www.daz3d.com/princess-series-twin-buns-

That fringe is just weird, I cannot for the life of me work out how it is realistically possible.

@barbult is right. Women are so lucky now that they don't have to go to bed with their hair in clips, rollers, nets, and other torture devices, so that in the morning they can wake up and have fasionable hair. And lots of Aquanet hairspray. Heated rollers didn't come out until 1970 for the average person and that with blow dryers changed how we styled our hair. Well, we ratted it, did a lot of stuff that was terrible for it but it was fashionable.

But nothing from what I am aware can make hair sprout out from the head like that, its not a styling issue

Yes that does make sense, but being used by someone who doesn't relly know how to use them in the best way

So...back to Daz can the hair strends in Toyen's SBH balla ponytail look like SBH hairs made by Princess_pa?

I want that Toyen ponytail because the style is definitive 1950s. Does the princess cyberpunk ponytail have adjustments to really taper the head, enlarge and push out the bang and significantly shorten and twist the tail? If I can get the cyberpunk ponytail to look 1950s then it is a no-brainer. I don't see it in the promo and for SBH I think only PA can provide such sohpisticated morphs.

I'm a big fan of Toyen's strand based hair products and use several of them in my own promos - one thing you can do to give the hair a sparser appearance is to lower the line start and end width in surface properties.

I usually set the end width to 0 and start to anything between 0.05 and 0.1, depends on the hair.

Another option to look out for is something along the lines of lines/curves per segment - I can't remember exactly what it's called and can't check as away from my PC, but it's a way of overriding number of hairs generated. That will only work if it's a non zero value, as more often than not strand hair that use the setting for more density have a low positive value.

It also depends on the mode the hair uses, ie root radius or target surface, as not all settings are available for both modes.

Can you post some pics of the changes you made if not too much trouble? It would be great if you have Balla Ponytail. I don't own any Toyen hair and really like to know how those strands can be tinkered to look like other vendors' promos. Thanks

Sorry but I don't yet have this particular hair, and every hair is different in terms of what you can achieve with customisation - I'm not working this afternoon but I'll see if I can post an example with a different hair tomorrow
