Body shape looks a little bit more "fleshy" this time, which I absolutely like, just

unlike most other G9 characters' body shape, that usually don't have a lot of variety.

I'm still waiting for someone to show me where the 'sexy' or 'clumsy' librarian was in this new bundle.

I'd say this promo fits the description:

One can quibble whether she's a librarian in the strictest sense, but she's making eyes at you over her glasses, she's sitting in a pose that emphasizes her breasts (and the amulet draws attention to them), and holding a pen between her lips in a somewhat suggestive way. There's also the Librariancore outfit, which features short skirts and knee/thigh-high stockings. I wouldn't say they're leaning especially heavy on the "sexy librarian" trope, but it's certainly not absent.

The Librariancore outfit also features a dress well past her knees, I wouldn't think that touching something to your mouth briefly automatically sexualizes a profession, and news flash, women have breasts.

Reading these forums is exhausting.   ;)

She's more or less exactly what I asked in the poll by Daz! So bought her on D1.

Core characters are done so well, and they come low-cost (or free) with Premium Subscription. Yes, in shaping, they can do a better work in differentiating bodies and faces. But no one of us is perfect :)

I guess it's sexy ..... if that's where your mind is at, or, if that is what you want to make of it. To me, she is a student, probably a graduate student working on her thesis (either masters or doctorate, but I get a definite doctorate vibe), and giving "the look". This particular look is one that states quite clearly "You better sit down and shut up or I might just come over there and kick your a$$."

Of course that's just me. In my mind, just because the character in the image is attractive, I don't automatically think she is being "sexy".

Personally, I tend to not like most of the DAZ G9 (female) "flagship" characters. Most simply aren't something I'm interested in using. Even as a free character bundle I'm not interested in them (one of the reasons I'm not really interested in having Premier membership every month, plus I hardly ever use males so they are of little interest). I may pick up the Audrey Character Bundle before my current Premier membership runs out, she is definitely the best option available IMHO right now, and a character I might actually use, and not avoid using.

And the sexy/clumsy librarian theme is really getting on my nerves.

     +1000

Fetishizing professions has real world consequences for real people working those professions. Too many creeps think X-rated content is based on reality and they're just one "clever" comment (or anatomy-grab) away from unlocking Porn Mode. And to make it worse, they don't take it well when the target doesn't play into their script.

I can understand the desire to have an easy explanation for the existence of terrible people - and an easy fix to their sociopathic behavior - but that line of thought is misguided and similar to the old "video games cause violent behavior" fallacy.

Adult content does not cause well-adjusted people to commit assault or harassment. Someone who views an adult video as an accurate depiction of reality - rather than an obvious fantasy - is not mentally healthy to start.

I agree with all of your second paragraph.

Your first paragraph is putting words in my mouth and then calling me misguided for the words you put there.

I never said it was an explanation for the existance of terrible people. The problem is the number of non-well-adjusted/terrible people (as I mentioned, creeps) who are encouraged by it. And since that's a thing I've had to deal with *as have countless others*... yeah, I think there needs to be more mindfulness about the subject.

How people are depicted matters. Normalization matters. Representation matters.

You agree that adult content does not cause well-adjusted people to engage in unacceptable behaviors, but you posit a problem with certain types of adult content because the mentally ill or sociopathic cannot responsibly consume said content?

What is your proposed solution to the alleged problem of sexy librarians in media?

Yes, it's certainly not as if a woman putting something in her mouth is standard shorthand for seduction or anything.

and news flash, women have breasts.

Woman have breasts, and decisions made in posing and framing can make them more or less prominent in the scene.

I bought both bundles on the first day and I think the characters are a good addition to our gene pool. Especially since they can be a great base to morph off of.

That said, I did not buy a lot of the extras for the 'librarian' outfits. I volunteered at a MWR library for a year or so in the early 1990s and the head librarian was a male, professional librarian. The staff were all women in their 50s to 40s, civil service employees. Their focus was to have materials available for college to elementary studies, entertainment (videos, music, magazines) and to encourage reading in small children. And to create a safe, welcoming place for everyone on the base, military, civilian, and dependents to relax, research, read, learn and enjoy themselves. That is what every library I have ever walked into has tried to do.

I was offended by the 'sexy librarian' promos to say the least. But then I don't like the tropes used for Native Americans, Africans, Hispanics, Asians... people are so much more than what those tropes restrict them to.

  • It's the market, we as customers created ourselves. Sex sells. Sadly that's the plain and simple truth. Most of the Daz figures are being used for porn in one way or another. It would be refreshing to see some regular "normal" stuff, like poses and clothing. But since the market is not for regular and normal, this is what's in store and it will only get worse. We "normalize" those poses and "clothing" I see it in the games I play. Males get full body armor, women are stuck with metal bikinis

I don't agree with this, but there is little we can do about it, just grit your teeth, choke back the bile and move on.

She's an adept studying arcane texts, which is why she's wearing the philosopher's stone alchemical symbol around her neck and is seated between two symbolic pillars like Boaz and Jachin. "Pen to mouth" is used by Freemasons regarding the transmission of their teachings and rituals. Modern media is rife with masonic symbolism, but it goes over the heads of "the profane," as they call the uninitiated. Obviously, the artist knows this symbolism and is using it.

This is getting a bit personal, and also a bit circular. Please try to keep the conversation on the topic rather than other people, and to avoid simply reiterating entrenched postions.

Has any one had Alice for Audrey appear? She's a bit tardy

  • SapphireBlueSapphireBlue Posts: 1,371

I wasn't really interested in Audrey, but was going to get the lovely hairs eventually. But since the sale specials today dropped the price for the bundles, I ended up getting the lot. Just had a play with them and did a couple of quick renders. I prefer Audrey mixed with other shapes better than on her own. First image is 100% Audrey. Second is 70% Audrey and 50% Cherubit's Valentina.

In case someone hadn't noticed: the Audry bundles are included as $5.99 items in the Golden Ticket VIP Pass orange banner promotion.

What is the VIP Pass? Can you provide a link? Thanks.

Check your messages.  There were two banners for me and one covered the other on the store page.

I did, which is why I wonder if this is perhaps reserved for people who bought a Golden Ticket item every day (I did not, but I did buy a lot of stuff).

Hey! I made that “problematic” promo for Audrey 9 smiley
I just wanted to clarify something. What’s wrong with showing a bit of subtle sexiness in a promo, regardless of the character’s profession? Guys, she’s clearly a young adult character.

Honestly, this whole thing caught my attention, and I’m writing here because my name is visible on it. I just don’t want people to misunderstand my intention. People can interpret things however they like, and that’s fine, but I’ve seen comments about “sexy underage characters” and “problematic behavior,” which feel way too extreme in this case, in my opinion. If we’re going down that path, there’s plenty of genuinely questionable content out there that would deserve that kind of criticism before this.

She’s fully clothed, and the glasses are positioned that way simply to show her eyes better without the spotlight reflection. This is a promo to sell the character, that’s all. There’s no “masonic” or hidden meaning behind it. I just wanted to portray an attractive young woman in a librarian-style theme, seeking knowledge in old occult books, and of course, posing for the camera. The inspiration came from Rachel Weisz’s character in The Mummy.

No one called me here, I just wanted to clarify that :) Thanks!

I think it's great work, and thanks for letting us know about your inspiration. I can definitely see it, of course that's one of my favorite movies.

That's unfortunately what all of the more recent DAZ figure bundles have been... perhaps the inevitible result of the "free character bundle every month" coupon being part of Premier.

    Alice never turned up!

Few other randon tests attached using her HD. Eyebrows needed swapping out.

Audrey 9 vs another core character and one of the HID ladies.

Out of the box vs a Natural Bend morphs applied.

Trying her out with a few other random recent pick ups

If you don't mind, genuine curiosity here. What should be in a character bundle? What should not? Doesn't have to refer to this specific bundle in any manner.
