Is there any way to view this figure as flesh/hair instead of wire mesh?
in New Users
This wolf figure won't appear as anything but wire mesh, no matter what setting I set it to, and this is causing me a lot of problems because I can't see what the lighting looks like until I render it. This means that any adjustments I make to posing or lighting is excruciatingly slow (make adjustment, render, make ajdustment, render, etc.). "NVIDIA iray" just makes it look like the base dog figure.

You can hide the fur in the scene tab untill render time, or set it in Parameters > Display > Scene View > Visible in Viewport to Off.
Which version of Daz Studio are you using?
Thank you for your help! I'm using 4.24.0.3.
And the problem isn't that I want the fur to disappear, it's that I want the figure to look likei its rendered self (just like the human figures do) as I'm posing and moving lights around. Like this, even if I pose it without the fur, I have no idea of what the light actually looks like on the fur until I render it.
If so, you have to turn on Preview PR Hairs on the fur nodes, as well as set Viewport Line Tessellation Sides >= 2... before Iray preview.
Be noted, doing these may consume more system resources in DS Viewport.
That looks exactly like what I want, but I don't have those options available to me. When I try try to search for "preview PR hairs" or "tesselation", nothing comes up.
Here is a look at the other batch of options available to me.
Tesselation is in General > Line Tesselation.
Preview PR Hairs is in General > Simulation.
In Scene pane , you should've selected those nodes of ...guideHairs rather than Dire Wolf per se.
I expanded them all and clicked on every sub-item. I wasn't able to bring up any parameter setting like in your initial pic.
Again, make sure to select those ... guideHairs nodes ! Carefully check the screenshot down below ~~
Hahaha thank you for your help and patience, I didn't even realize you were selecting them all and that I could as well.
Did I screw something else up? Wolf still not appearing rendered...
You still didn't give them the correct and same settings...
1) Turn on Consolidate Properties in the context menu of Parameters pane. (screenshot 1)
2) Ctrl + Select four SBH nodes in Scene pane as well as Parameters pane (screenshot 2)
3) Set Preview PR Hairs to On, Viewport Line Tessellation Sides to 2 (screenshot 2)
(Or you give the settings to the SBH nodes by selecting each of them one by one....In your screenshot, you only gave the settings to the fur on the ears !)
You should make sure you can see all the furs are generated in Viewport before Iray Preview.
Thank you so much for doing an ELI5 for me! I finally got them turned on. I really appreciate yur help.
