I don't mean a flag on a t-shirt on on thr back of a jacket but a seaminlgless texture that can be applied to the entire garment like a pair of pants or a dress or a skirt.

Please note that it is against U.S. code 4 U.S. Code § 8 wear clothing with the U.S. Flag as the material. Regardless of what some recent people have been doing. It is actually disrespectful.
I believe he's talking about putting it on a 3D model and not actual garments in RL. I could be misreading however. It wouldnt't be the first, lol.
I was not aware of that code 'cause I'm not in US... though I knew OP just wanted to add a texture to a garment in DS ~~
Sorry for that, I deleted my suggestion anyway.
I realize that many folks may not be aware of the US codes, or even ones in their own countries, but I have served in many countries where disrespect for their flag, memorials to their wars, or damage to historical sites can land you in prison. Wearing red, white and blue in an outfit as solid colors is fine, but the actual flag design it not. For Americans, the colors represent specific values we aspire to. For me at this time, it is a sore point to see a handkerchief used that has our flag imprinted on it. Or as gym shorts or a bikini. Crosswind, I was not pointing this out to you specifically. This is something that has personally driven me nuts when I see the our flag on shaders.

@memcneil70
Fully understood ! Actually now I have the empathy with you.
I could have sworn I remember seeing, a long time ago, a girl on TV wearing a bikini that had elements of the U.S. flag? Would that be illegal?
yet from what I see in the media they seem to wear their flag on everything
we do on kitshy occassions like Australia Day which has it's own contraversy
The Brits defintely do but again from what I've seen it's for special occassions like corronations etc along with really kitshy memorabilia
Definitely not illegal in the UK to wear the Union Flag, or even the component parts (Cross of St George, St Andrews or St Patrick). The one that can get people in trouble is the Royal Standard, but rarely does anyone outside the Royal circles even know what it is.
Regards,
Richard.
yes, you are correct. I am not going to wear it but have one of my characters wear it.
Thank you
So Marvel Comics has been in violation of this for over three quarters of a century when they introduced "Captain America" in the early 1940's?
What about Sylvester Stallone when he had Apollo wear the flag on his trunks in Rocky nearly half a century ago? Then, Stallone wore those boxing trunks in Rocky III & IV.
With all respect to the American Flag and Veterans like Mary who served with dignity and honor.
I did a quick search to understand the code cited, and the law in this regard, and found this article that seems to provide an explanation of the code, and the fact that many people and manufacturers don't know about it, thus producing products that countervene regularly.

Thank you @FirstBastion.
When I posted, I was ill with a virus and may not have been as diplomatic as I should have been. I will continue to honor my country's flag and the flags of other countries, along with the memorials and heroes they hold dear. Others may do as they feel is appropriate.

US Flag Code is merely guidance, and is not legally binding. Some people might find it disrespectful to use the flag in contravention of that code, but that's as far as it goes.
edit: for whatever it's worth, I am also a veteran, and hold the flag in no particular reverence.
