Uninstalling DAZ Studio Using DIM

I used DIM to install Studio wersion 4.21 some time ago, and now I want to use DIM to uninstall that version so I can then install the latest, 4.24.

The problem is, when I look in DIM under Installed, it claims the installed version is already 4.24.  (Trust me on this: it ain't.)  So DIM's Ready to Download section claims 4.24 is ready to install, while Installed insists that 4.24 is already there.  Do I click to uninstall anyway and hope DIM doesn't mess things up?

(BTW, DIM has the same issue with my BETA. Installed claims my BETA installation is 4.24, even that BETA version is clearly 4.22. For what it's worth, I have no plans to uninstall the BETA version of Studio for right now -- just FYI.)

I've never seen such issue before.... any screenshot ?

Locate the dsx file of IM00013176-02.... in your Manifest Archive folder to see if it's really DS 4.24... by opening DSX file with Notepad++.

To upgrade DS, you never need to Uninstall the old version, the right way is to : 1) backup the IM package of older version; 2) download the latest version; 3) install.

  • While DIM is online it will show the name of the current package on the Daz servers, not the name used by the local version - if they are different then the package will appear under Updates on the Ready to Download tab..

  • But will the fact that both show as 4.24 under Installed cause any issues whenever I attempt to install a newer version?

Recently, after my PC got power spiked, my tech guy had to repair the physical damage to my system as well as reinstall corrupted Windows program files. (My SSDs themselves were not damaged.) I'm simply attempting to rule out the possibilty that these DIM glitches are not due to corrupted file error as well.

  • They will show the current version on the servers, so if there is a newer version they will show that. if have the packages for an older version and want to install that then you would place (copies of) them in the DIM Downloads folder instead of the current versions, then run DIM in Work Offline mode and install them from the Ready To Install tab.

  • Latest version of Studio has now been installed, with no issues. Thanks for your help.
