DAZ Studio won't load properly

Just within the last week I am unsucessful at loading or saving any scenes in DAZ Studio.

The computer just churns (I have lots of disk space and memory) and it never loads the scenes (any scene) and I cannot save any scene for the same reason, just churns away, even an empty scene.

I am using the latest version of DAZ Studio and have been for a while now.

Is there anyone who might point me in the right direction? Re-install the software?

I have no idea what to do or why this is happening. The log file just says loading scene and nothing more. No errors. But it never loads the scene.

I even tried creating a totally empty scene, and tried to save that. No luck. I end up having to end DAZ Studio in task manager to get out of the program.

  • DS 4 or DS 2025? Have you checked for space on the drive you are saving to?

It looks like I have DS 4.24.0.3 (64-bit).

    Is there a later version?

That is the current latest DS 4 (and the last version, except for updating to remove 3Delight once Daz loses dsitribution rights at the end of the year).

Richard, this is a worrying statement - will we not be allowed to do 3Delight renders in future, or do you just mean that we need to save our installers for a version before this potential update if we want to continue doing 3Delight renders?

We will be allowed and able to do 3Delight renders but save the DS4 installers. There will apparently be one final DS4 update at or near year-end and this version will not have the 3Delight render engine. It will also be the version of DS4 available in our Product Library for any future downloads.

The latter, there was a blog entry and forum discussion a few weeks back - 3Delight cannot 9usefully) be added to DS 2025 (it's the opposite side of the issue with Iray 2025 in DS 4) so they will not renew their (non-free) license to distribute 3Delight, but as long as you back up your installers (application and plug-ins) you will still be able to install (while working offline) and use it.

Is the old 3Delight license still valid in the old DS versions, if Daz doesn't renew the license?

You can still use 3Delight, it's just that Daz will no longer be able to distribute it.

    Thank you for the clarification.

Due to my elderly hardware I can't go above DS4.21.0.5 so I had not been following all the discussions about DS 2025.
