The other day I was having problems with getting DIM to work.
I noticed that I had bought 3 items that are no longer available.
Bale for Bishop
Adore for Asha 9
Morgana for Madision 9

Should I have gotten a refund or credit for those?? Since I did pay for them.

  • Moved to the Commons as it is not a Daz Studio application issue.

You didn't pay for them (directly) - they are part of your Premier subscription, linked to membership - and are not no longer avaialble, but they can be installed only through Daz Connect (installing through Daz Studio) not DIM.

some of these shapes are nice but if you want your files to work forever you need to subscribe to premier...    ...well at the moment...    ....forever....        For my part the savings prove kinda worth it and the new mesh grabber aka geometry sculptor is excellent, hard to imagine working with G9 without it now frankly...   ...check out @dartanbeck's you tube video if you are in doubt about that, its clear he would definitely concur with me and he shows how its now essential to a daz animation workflow, and to me even for stills too!  Crazy good job by @Man Friday!

That's what I like to call the "Premier Gotcha". If you don't stay on Premier, you'll have to replace all those characters in your old scenese if you need or want to use them again.

Well yes, that's the point I was making, in other words unless you accept that Daz now basically costs money just for the useable version, which isn't the end of the world to me personally but is nonethelss the point of contention at hand, one would probably be best leaving the said premier shapes out of any scenes for exactly that reason - personally I don't use them even though I dont mind paying the subscription, just feels like walking into a trap even though I'm gonna pay it anyway - for my part these shapes would be more a reason not to buy premier than a reason to buy it, I sincerely hope the community can flourish under this system, more to the point I sincerely hope it can survive full stop with the pressure from insta-masterpieces no doubt Ai will eventually be knocking out buy the thousands per second God forbid, which might take all the fun out of the chase for you or I, but how many new user's (or potential new user's) will feel the same way?

I would hate for the new product portfolio to dwindle because it just isn't making good money for new artist's anymore, obviously old hands with hundreds of products still in the G8 and G9 life-cycle will survive in synchcrony with the life of the platform itself regardless, but I'm genuinely concerned its going to get extremely difficult for Artists starting out to make enough money whilst adhering to the product update cycle that walks hand in hand with software of this nature. I for one, try my best to keep buying from artists whose work has potential or is already 'there' as I really think we are going to need to pull together if the platform is to flourish/survive, please get on board with that notion (if you aren't already anybody reading this!).

The top 30 vendors can't pump out enough work to keep $200 a year software worth the money and frankly I think I'd end up exporting to blender and learning the BDSF shader if the new product coming through wasn't cutting the mustard or continuing to raise the bar anymore - that's just the reality of what a paid software entails - it needs to provide the value, which for now I can definitely live with, buit we are entering challenging times....   ...I'll likely be around a while, I just hope enough people feel the same way!!!
