Ghostlights in Iray Preview

Are ghostlights working in Iray Preview in DS 4.24.0.3?

It's been a while since I've rendered anything in DS, but today I'm trying to create a lighting setup that makes use of Ghostlights. I'm aware of the script (Create Advanced Iray Node Properties.dsa) and the necessary settings. For those interested, see the documentation here:

Things are working as expected in a full Iray render, but not in Iray Preview (no light emitted). If anybody else can confirm that this, I'd appreciate it and stop trying to figure out why it's not working on my setup/config - thanks.

You may have your preview set to use Iray Interactive (rather than Iray Photoreal), which does not use any emissive surfaces. The two render types can be set differently.

Sometime back someone recommended it to me for the viewport as "oh, it's quicker, dude"... and then it turned out that, no, it wasted a load of my time because it just disables a load of features I needed and then didn't know why they weren't working.

  • Thanks - that did the trick. For those interested, the setting can be found in Draw Serttings Pane -> Drawing -> Draw Mode.
