Painting with acrylics

It's time to get back to my artistic spirit. We're having a class on painting with Acrylics. It's in my apartment building. I'm the only man there. We have a wonderful group of people. It's such a blast to spend more time with my favorite people.
The first paintings are a bit crude. This one was done entirely with a large brush. I took advantage of the brush size to make bold strokes. This is such a blessing to open myself up again, creatively.
I was going to upload a full-sized image, but I need to tinker with the dimensions. I'm a bit wasted today. I'm an old guy!

Looks good. I do miss having physical bristles to observe when doing that kind of work. Doing digital you dont have bristles.
If you are interested in going digital with painting, I would highly recommend Rebelle from Escapemotions
An upcoming look at version 8 - https://www.escapemotions.com/blog/rebelle-8-early-access-is-here
Mattymanx, thanks for the compliment. I bookmarked the page for later.
Right now I'm concentrating on the Acrylic class with my friends. And I'm thinking of bringing my digital work into new paintings.
I have created many wild images using DAZ Studio over the years. It would be great to see them on canvas.
Ron, nice work. It's been years since I picked up a brush. You are an inspariation.
:-)
Thanks ChuckM & Barbilt. The entire painting so far was done with one large brush. At first I fretted over the "limitation."
But then I decided to make the best of it with bold strokes of the brush.
My art teacher calls me the Van Gogh of the group. I am also the only man there.
Thanks barbult. This is actually my second flower painting. This is a 7-8 week class, once a week.
They'll all be flower paintings. I'll share more as we go.
Here's the first painting. I haven't finished it.
Ron, your paintings and your class has made my day shine with joy. Thank you.
Mary
Ron, it sounds like you live in a nice place where you have friends and fun activities.
Bookmarked. I hope you will also paint a render of yours some day, would love to see both side by side!
Thanks, everyone, for your support. I am literally having the time of my life.
I live in a Seniors Apartment building with about 100 people. Only half the people participate with activities. I am the only man in the class.
I have many friends. Just haven't seen any women that I would classify as potential romantic partners. But sometimes friendship is the best kind of relationship.
It is wonderful to hear that you are in good spirits, and your recent improved medical results are good news, too. Keep doing what you are doing. It seems to be working well for you, Ron.
ArtRage is great too, particularly for oil and acrylic painting. It's also less expensive than Rebelle, they even have a smartphone version for only $4.99.
It's also much faster than Rebelle (at least if you compare ArtRage 3.5 Pro and Rebelle 5 Pro), which can be an issue on older, not so fast PCs. Here's a speed comparison test between these two versions, using an oil brush of 100% size, on a system with a 15+ year old Quad Core Q6600 2400 GHz CPU and 8 GB RAM.

Whether Rebelle has become faster in later versions I don't know. And maybe it doesn't matter with the current CPUs on the market, but I can't test that myself at the moment. Rebelle also uses about 20 times as much (2+ GB) RAM as ArtRage in this test.
I'm a big fan of that sentiment.
I'm glad you're having fun creating -- thank you for sharing! I look forward to your next one!
Here is my painting for week 3. We're all having so much fun. It's great to encourage others and share the joy.
Very nice! I see a sunflower in the middle. Am I right? The dark blue background sets off the yellow, red, and green of the flowers nicely. Did you ever finish painting 1?
Thanks, barult. Yes, it is a sunflower.
I didn't finish the first one. I did finish the second one. Here is week 2 done.
Wow, that is beautiful, so much life, warmth and movement in your paintings!
Thanks, mding
I enjoy painting, its very relaxing. This was my last WIP using acrylics from many years back. I always wanted to see B&B do a surfing episode with a giant squid that looks like Beavis attack Butt-Head.. But ever since Daz I gave up painting unfortunately. And now I can't find my old paints so I will probbably never finish it. Maybe I can scan it and use digital paints to complete it.
Anything new to show us, Ron?
Yes, we just did our 4th class yesterday. We skip another week before the next class.
NIce one, thanks for sharing!
Ron, I am enjoying your art show. Thank you so much.
Mary
Thanks again, friends, for your support!
I didn't realize you skip a week between classes. Perhaps I have gotten too eager to see that next painting. My favorites are the ones with multiple flowers and colors. Do you ever just paint on your own, without the class?
We've been having the classes every week. However we don't have a class next week.
I had not touched a paintbrush in decades. I really missed my art work.
I felt so good about the response to my poetry reading that I decided to enroll in this class.
Over the years I've collected art supplies only to ignore them and eventually throw them away.
I plan to buy some art supplies in October. I need to be careful because I got seriously behind in paying my bills.
Your poem (in the other thread) was pretty amazing, too. I see why you got such a good response from your reading. I bet many of the listeners could empathize with the feelings you expressed. Is it even more meaningful to you now as you look back on it from an older perspective?
