100% CPU usage when rendering
Hello, I'm using the latest version (4.24) and every time I render, my CPU goes 100% while my GPU stays below 10%. When I uncheck the CPU from the hardware settings, it always renders a blank output. All drivers are up to date.
Any solution to this? Thank you!
My specs:
7800x3D
5070Ti
32GB RAM

50x0 cards cannot be supported in DS 4.x, for Iray rendering you will need to use the DS 2025 Alpha https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/728111/daz-studio-2025-alpha-version-6-25-2025-23807-updated-august-26-2025#latest
Richard,
Last week, I bought a desktop computer with an RTX 4070 GPU to avoid having to have two versions of Daz Studio in order to render in 3Delight and in Iray. I picked up the computer last Tuesday and set it up. On Thursday, I installed Daz Studio 4.24 and when I checked the Render/Hardware window, I was surprised to see that the computer has an RTX 5070 GPU! However, I have been able to render in both 3Delight and Iray with Daz Studio 4.24 and an RTX 5070. Am I missing something?
It's probably rendering with the CPU.
Yes, it is only the GPU acceleration that is not available for 50x0 cards - I should have been clearer. Non GPU stuff works, and non-Iray GPU stuff (e.g. dForce) works too.
Interesting ~~ but you should've unchecked CPU option before testing. Also you could've checked DS log to confirm which device DS used to render.
@Richard Haseltine and @crosswind,
Thanks for your feedback. I finally see what is happening. I did Iray test renders again
Select lines from the Help Log are provided below.
Since the RTX 5070 GPU is doing no Iray render work, I need to return the computer for a refund and try to find a computer with an RTX 40x0 GPU.

Ah, right !
Any news on when we will get 50 series support?
For Iray it is in DS 2025, it will not (cannot) be added to 4.x.x.x. All other tasks using the GPU already support the 50x0 cards in DS 4 and 2025.
Thank you Richard
@Richard Haseltine - what is this DS 2025? Is that like a beta build of a different form of Das Studio? Or can I ugrade to it from 4.24.03 and have all my layouts and menus and contents etc be just like they are? I just spent time and money buying a new Aurora with an RTX 5070TI with 16 gb and after finally getting my installation all set up like on my older Aurora, discovered that iray will only render by cpu. After hours trying to figure it out, Copilot told me that Ds 4.24 simply doesn't support the 5xxx series for iray. I'm pretty unhappy as you can imagine. I'd appreciate any information you can provide...
DS 2025 (or 2026 by the look of the change log) is the next major version (what might otherwise have been DS 5, though as explained here the numbering isn't just being incremented https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/9137741/#Comment_9137741 ). As a new major version it will isntall alongside DS 4.x (and 3.x, 2.x etc.) It doesn't yet have plug-ins, other than the Daz own-brand ones, and many scripts will need revision - hence the suggestion to do scene set-up in DS 4 and just render in DS 2025 for now.
Thanks for the clear summary, Richard. Any insider ideas on when it will be a fully finished product with scripts, plug-ins etc all working? Also, does this mean I would need two copies of my content directory - one for 4.24 and one for this half-baked version?
No ETA, that I am aware of. No, you don't need separate content directories for the two versions - indeed, it would be undesirable as far as third-party content goes..
Thanks again, Richard! So how do you find the correct package to download at Daz3d to install this DS25 or 26 thing, or how do you get it in the DIM, as I don't see it.
If you aren't seeing it, click the Downaload Filters button (top-left of the Ready to Download pane, or it can be reached via Advanced Settings) and make sure you have that version checked.
Found it finally - DIM said the Public Build thing to show the right install modules was installed, but the option still didn't show; I uninstalled & reinstalled that and then did have the public build install stuff showing (DS2025 etc). Installed Ds25 & tried iRay render successfully! Happier now than before, for sure. THANK YOU, Richard, for your time and information which I greatly appreciated.
