Needs Advices About a Night Sky from a Window Reflected in a Mirror
in The Commons
Hello.
I wanted to ask you for some advice on creating a sky from a window. In interior renderings, I often use a backdrop, especially images, for rendering, but sometimes it doesn't work, like when there's a mirror in the interior, because the backdrop isn't reflected. So I have to use an HDRi. The difference is in rendering time. I was wondering, how do you do it? There are alternatives to HDRi, specific products for DAZ, that don't affect rendering time. Besides, used this way, HDRi is sometimes a waste, as in the case I'm currently working on. It's an interior at night, and the interior light is sufficient. I don't need HDRi, but a night sky reflected in a mirror.
Advice?
Thanks everyone.

Using an HDRI usually speeds rendering, but you could aply you backdrop image to a plane, adjusting one of the X or Y scales to get the right aspect ratio, as an emission colour and place that to show in the mirror.
