Hieracical materials look for the character it is saved with, so if you autofit G9 clothes to G8, hieracical materials will fail.
You can either load the material while fitted to a G9, or save ordinary materials when it is loaded to G9 or manually apply the maps.
Hieracical textures has that advantage that it can apply to different items at the same time.
They're all Hierarchical Material Presets. But since you auto fitted the clothing on G8, they won't work anymore because G8 has a different Node Name.
Select you G8, go to: Edit > Figure > Scene Identification... change Node Name from Genesis8xxxxxxx to Genesis9. Then they'll work.
Oooh ok i see, thanks guys :O hadn´t know yet about Hierarchical Materials
I've just bought the Invicta set, specifically to use with G8 figures, and am having the same issue as the OP here. I understand that the issue is the hierarchical materials. But I've so far failed to find any clear, easy to follow instructions to fix this. For instance, the advice above sounded the easiest solution, but sadly, it simply does not appear to work.
It's the first time I've fitted G9 clothing to a G8 figure. I used MMX to get the clothing to auto-fit the G8 character, selecting Genesis 9 MMX as the checkbox option in the auto-fit pop-up (it's also my first time using this product).
Any clear, step-by-step advice (or a link to a YT tutorial) would be really appreciated, thank you!
It always work as long as you do it correctly ~~ https://mega.nz/file/meAlGDrD#frOI-VikAVvqDwgdeG0lEKCaGjadG7lvXGJs3-VataQ
A more permanent solution is to make a copy of all the H.mats files and edit them with a text editor then to look for:
"id" : "Genesis9", "url" : "name://@selection/Genesis9:",And replace it by:
"id" : "Genesis8Female", "url" : "name://@selection/Genesis8Female:",If you see gibberish text when opening them, it means the files are compressed, you can use the Batch Edit tool to uncompress them all easily using Daz Studio (menu Windows > Panes (Tabs) > Batch Convert).
I usually copy them inside the 'My Library' and when I'm planning on using autofitted clothes a couple of times, I'll save each of them as Figure/Props Assets, to avoid heavy scenes files.
Right ~ but you also have to change the parents of sub-nodes from Genesis9 to Genesis8Female... otherwise it won't work.
Besides, if going for this way by modiying DUF files, actually you don't have to make a copy of H.Mats files as the modified preset files can also work on G9... because G9 supports ALIASES of G8 figures from the update dated Dec. 2022. (http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/86958/start)
However, this way will not work for the Genesis generations before G8 'cause there's been no ALIASES support for them... so you have to make more copies separately. Therefore a more permanent solution to me is to add ALIASES support to G1 ~ G8 for G9 in their DSF files which'll be much simpler. (ss1 ~ 2) ... since most likely there'll be no update for starter essentials of Genesis generations prior to G9. Then, all H.Mat Presets from G9 can work on older Genesis generations.
I still personally think that changing Node Name is the fastest way if one doesn't want to make modifications to DSF/DUF files ...
