Base Female UV set on Genesis?

Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,095

I'm a little confused digging through old threads... is there any easy ways to get Base Female textures onto a Genesis figure?

UV Setter Gen2 can do the reverse, updating uv sets on G2F/M figures, that's great. But....

I mean, I can put the texture on Genesis. I can even set it to 'G2F Base Female' UV map. Groovy. Except her face is clearly sliding off...

Do you mean the texture set that comes with G2F, if so then that is just V5's textures and UV's transfered to G2F.

What figure was the texture meant for, and which genesis are you trying to put it on to?

Genesis 1 didn't have 'base female', it had Genesis Female and Genesis Male, and G2F's base female is not the same as G3F's base female.

Catrina, under G2F it's listed as 'Base Female.' I copied the face to a Genesis figure. No matter what UV set I use (G2F Base Female, Genesis Female, Victoria 5, etc), the lips are offset too low, there are seams at the top of head and sides of the neck, etc. The different maps change things a bit, making certain features larger or smaller, but in all cases the face is sliding off.

Is it? Copying G2F's base texture to Genesis 1 and setting the UV to V5 is horrible.

Yeah just checked them myself, looks like they kept the same names after running them through map transfer using G2F's V5 UV's

So V5 Bree and G2F Bree aren't the same UV's just the same texture, but transferred and not renamed?

I was wondering about that, since G2F came with a Victoria 5 UV (I think? I may have gotten it from something else)

This is what I'm contending with.

Image on Right is G2F, how it's supposed to look (more or less). Image on left... yeah.

(If I could get Geografts for Genesis to play nice with G2F I'd be tempted to try to convert the character... but they don't, so)

Yea, that won't work. The 2 base female UVs aren't the same, and map transferring her to V5 looks just as awful.

As an alternative, there is a Sugar Doll for V4 at Rendo, and Genesis can take V4 UVs out of the box.

Those look really neat, but I can't spend money now. Hrm.

Maybe I'll try to figure out a way to morph a G2F head to look the same and just fake it, or try to see if I can manipulate the face into V4.

Do you have GenX2? If so, you can transfer her that way, but you did mention geografts, and those won't transfer as geografts uses a part of the figure's actual mesh.

If you have Photoshop, you can probably overlay the G2F texture over a Genesis texture and use Puppet Warp on the layer to match the G2F to Genesis.

Thankfully, since the 'skin' is supposed to be artificially even, it made it not terribly hard to edit. Used paint.net, it's not PERFECT... but pretty good! (The line from the lips isn't lined up properly, but it's subtle and still looks cool, so hey, I'm happy)

By the posts I can't understand what you know and what you don't know, so probably I will explain too much.

Alternative 1: Buy G2FUV-for-G1 included in Genesis 2 Male and Female Base UVs for Genesis

cons: you need buy the product to translate presets Batch Convert Genesis 2 to Genesis, or load the textures by hand.

pros: no need use map transfer.

Alternative 2: V5UV is free for G2F, but it isn't free for G1. We can suppose V5UV-for-G2F is not the same that V5UV-for-G1, because the advice is that you need buy Victoria 5 for use V5-skins in genesis. Use map transfer to convert from G2F_BaseUV-for-G2F to V5UV-for-G2F. Then G1 can use converted skin through V5UV-for-G1. Set uv map in surface tab to Victoria 5, it doesn't happen automatically.

cons: Victoria 5 is not cheap

Alternative 3: Buy Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female. This contains V4UV-for-G2F, so you can use map transfer and convert to V4UV. Definitively V4UV-for-G2F is not V4UV-for-G1.

V4UV-for-G1 is free, then G1 can use converted skin through it. Set uv map in surface tab to Victoria 4 if it is not the default.

cons: V4UV-for-G1 is not totally corrected and some makeups suffer. There is a product with a corrected UV version for G1. Yes, it is not free.

Sorry, but the world "buy" is a unavoidable constant.

That's fine, looks like I already have that first product in my wishlist. Just waiting for a sale... Thankfully, for now, I'm good with my specific remap. I'd be inclined to move everything over to Genesis 2 with GenX2, except for the blasted geografts. Ah well. Oh, and thanks for the information, there's a bunch I didn't know. :)

Is there a V4 Corrected to work with G2F?  I converted the V4 skin Kay for use on Victoria 6, and I can see that the eye makeup isn't lining up quite right.
