Frequent Crashing after Windows Update

Is this common? Windows does a black screen of death now while modifying poses in a simple scene since a recent windows update. I upgraded the NVIDIA studio drivers 580.97, released August 12 after the first crash. Didn't help. I'm going to report to tech support. But I can't work with the computer rebooting every 10-15 minutes after I start working with Daz.

No resource issues that I can see. I'm not running IRAY preview or anything like that.

Is that the same nVidia driver as before the update? It certainly sounds like Windows grabbing an older driver that wasn't working, it may be worth doing a clean install of the driver if you haven't.

Two questions: does your computer have an SSD? Did you install the August 2025 Windows 11 update?

If so, current recommendation is that you uninstall the Windows 11 August update. It's having some incompatibilities with SSD drivers, sometimes really severe.

Last week, Daz was running just fine. Windows did an update. Since then, I had the computer restart unexpectedly while doing some posing, no IRAY at all. I then updated the NVIDIA drivers (from the July drivers to the August drivers). And it is still randomly crashing so hard, even without IRAY ever being used at all within Daz, Windows auto-reboots. No other changes were made. I'm assuming this is a windows issue, but I wouldn't know where to begin to deal with it.

Tech Support hasn't responded to me at all yet.

I lost power and the computer rebooted. I usually don't accept updates for weeks but I must have slipped this one started unexpectedly. I've removed the update according to what I could find on YouTube: Microsoft Windows 11 Update KB5063878 How to Fix Roll Back or Uninstall

I forgot all about the SSD issues I'd heard about.

    Thanks.

No issue on my side since the update of Win11 > KB5063878 ~ and no issue either so far with the latest August update of KB5064081. I'm with latest NSD 580.97. And I personally don't think Windows Updates are the culprit.

We ever saw the similar issue of DS crash and/or blue / black screen when posing figure / previewing etc. because of conflict / corrupted Nvidia driver. Try 100% uninstall N driver with DDU then install a latest clean version if other solutions fail you.
