How do you make light visible in the Render?

So I'm toying with a Halloween idea and there is a certain effect I'm looking for. (Pardon the primitive renders, they're just to help show what I'm talking about.

Pic1: I'm using emissive light in this Irises for the glow. Also, I put spotlights in his eyes (which you can't see)

Pic2: The spotlights are reflecting on her eyes.

But what I'm looking for is the space between his eyes and hers to show "red beams"

Is that something I can do with the program itself or is there an additional product I need to buy? I tried messing with all the dials in NVidia View and don't see anything. I'm new to this particular effect.

  • You could try an emissive cylonder with a glow, or a larger cylinder with a dispersive shader applied and the light shinging through it (make sure the light is outside the cylinder, though).

It can bring you a beam only when the light penetrates and scatters into particles, i.e. Tyndall effect. So, you may want to have volumetric lights. If you have some shader presets of VDB or VDB products, you'll be able to make such effects.
