PC+ Sale... Meh
After how much people enthused about it last month I'm finding this PC+ Sale a little on the disappointing side, I must say. Most items included in the sale seem to be about 40% off which is pretty much standard for Daz, and sub-standard in comparison to most sales they've had in the past (60%, 65%... etc). I did pick up a load of Jack Tomalin stuff early on because those had a really good sale discount and even though I didn't really need them right now I couldn't resist the sale price (and because Jack's stuff is always top quality). Other than that I'm not feeling my usual compulsion to spend money just because there are bargains to be had. I just keep thinking "It'll definitely be cheaper than that in the future".
Usually in the past when there was a sale on Daz Original items you get a really good discount if you're a PC+ member. This one feels negligible.
Is this part of some Daz customer self-help programme to help us stop spending more money than we should, or are they moving towards a model of lower discounting now?

Comments
Agreed. I was considering signing up again to participate, but looking at the sale so far.. meh.
If they would throw in a discount on the quarterly membership, then maybe!
There's currently 30% off memberships.. ;)
Hey,
Well, I'm sorry to hear it's not doing it for you currently.. however, there a ton of people even on the forums who seem to be loving it so far. We're well aware that these sort of sales are either love them or hate them.. but I'm not sure I get your comments about the 40% off sales. There are a load of 60% off category sales running too.. even on 1.99 content, which to answer your comment on "It'll definitely be cheaper than that in the future" - they'll very likely not be ;)
ETA: these sort of sales, you might have to wait a bit, but hopefully something will crop up which you do feel is a benefit. They'll be lots of category sales, bundles, freebies and the like, so hopefully something for everyone - which is always our motto with these types of things.
Cheers!
I think it's awesome and it's killing me that I'm going to be missing those $3 sales. Nnngh. (Money comes, money goes)
Does this work to extend memberships that won't expire for several months?
This is just my 2 cents for what its worth. I remember days long past when even not being a member of the PC club you were able to get great deals, Daz use to regularly sell items 65% or more off without being a pc member or stackable sales. in these promontional deals .. But as times changes. like the March madness sale, daz has changed the discount platform on how they discount things sold here. Its happens, business need to change to survive. . But being a long time daz user its was hard to deal with the change at first when we use to get some really great deals. . But now Days I just wishlist items until they are 60% off or more.. . So you see. PC+ sales have no interest to me because I'm not a PC member anymore. Too me 40% off is not enough incentive for impulse buying an Items I don't need, even though I may liked the looks of, or would like to add to the item to my runtime, in the old days I would impluse buy like that. because the price incentive was there .. But, as a non- PC member, unless its something I can really use. I other wise wish list the item and wait for another day when when it will fit into my budget. I understand a business trying to cover the increase cost of everything that it takes to do business in todays market.. I even understand even increaseing prices to pace the inflation.. But! unfortunately my PAY or salery has not kept paces with these increase not recieving a raise in over 3 years. , this is why without great deals or incentives for impulse buying , My purchases have decreased as the discounts & sales promotions on items have decreased. I don't like it, But there is nothing i can do about it but accept it and wait for daz to put products I like on sale that give me the incentive to impluse buy the item. other wise i am forced to just shop around for better deals else where
Food for thought for the prowers that be running these promotions & sales.
Yea any additional time is tacked onto the end of your existing membership :)
On the upside, I liked seeing the MFD turn up unexpectedly. The PC+ price for that was more than acceptable, and of one were so inclined, they could blow through a couple of hundred dollars of on-hand texture kits (at PC+ prices) and a few hours of freebie digging, and never be hurting for a dress again.
30% not enough /nod
I can let it expire, which will save me some cash waiting for a good deal. :)
I'm loving the sale so far. Can't wait to see what they have coming up. Those PC+ bundles are great, and then to be able to pick up additional items for $0.79 is an absolute bargain. This is going to be an expensive month.
Me too. I don't usually find much I want in the other sales, but so far this one has been great. The bundles especially.
I would like to add my voice to those that say I think the PC sale has been pretty good so far, and Jack and the rest of the PC team have done well. Given we have just had a month long of numerous items at 60% off, there was always going to be some that were unimpressed with the new sale, but I have been happy with it. I might add that I have been mostly getting PC items, but then isn't that the main point of a PC sale?
I haven't bought much if anything. Lots of female content, iray, and fantasy clothing. High definiton female characters.... I'm sure this works for much of the target audience, I just dont use it.

There are a couple of (10) PC hairs on sale today. I almost did not notice them myself... :)
Well, I'm pretty happy with the PC+ part of the sale. So far it's been a lot of fun. With being just out of the PA sale where I got 64% off, I'm not really buying any of the featured PA items; but the PC+ $0.79 items and the Crazy Deals are great.
And as Jack has said we're just getting started. There is lots more to come. So, just lkeep watching and something you'va been wanting will probably turn up.

I just looked back, we started on the 11th. Today is the 18th, so we're at week 1 out of the month-long sale. I'm sure there's a lot more to come. :) (And I'm already thinking about blowing my entire budget on stuff I did not want to get now... Bah... :D )
I think, if one is a long time PC+ member that sales arn't really fun. I have bought a lot of the products in the bundled items earlier (as any of the PC products don't cost more than 1.99$).
The Crazy Deals are okay, if there are more than one item inside, that you havn't in your collection. But it's not so great to get the same content in that bundles again, like Cista Sanctus, which was this year part of the Crazy Deal 1 and 2012 part of the Monster Pack 4. I know there are new members wo didn't have the older PC Anniversary Bundles but there are users like me too, who are loyal PC members since years.
Maybe it could be a idea, to add a category "Make your own Crazy Deal Bundle", where you add all related PC items for that category and we take 10 out for a bundle of our own choice. Of course anyone could then add so many bundles as he want.
I find what's difficult for me is the contrast between these discounts and last month's sales. It was nice to see the price in the store then see it reduced in the cart. Well, that was last month and I'm still not used to not seeing that anymore.
There have been special deals where I go to the page and there's nothing there because I already have it (the west park stuff for one). But that will happen if you've been a long-time member and have pretty much kept up with most of the Platinum stuff.
And seeing the same vendor stores over and over and over and over means I don't even bother looking any more.
Since I've never ever done an underwater scene ever ever, I don't know why I keep picking up stuff to use in such. Sigh. Maybe one day I'll feel a burst of creativity and render underwater scenes every day for six months, but since I haven't done it yet I doubt that will ever happen. DAZ has to love idiots like me.
That would be awesome. I could actually get rid of a slew of Wish list items, which average at $1.99 each.
yes, but only yearly, and I'm not interested in that. Not enough poser content here to keep me want things for a whole year :)
Well I am new and I am having a blast.
I'm still relatively new here also, so I don't have a lot of the back catalog yet. Renewed my PC sub and picked up 3 bundles so far. Looking forward to picking up a horse, dragon and anatomy bundle at some point this month, too.

This is my first PC+ sale as an active user of Daz, in spite of my join date. As such, so far, with the three bundles (mega, crazy1, annd crazy 2) I had none of the items as yet, even though some things were on my wishlist for a while (such as the Trinity Atrium), many of these items have been wanted, but usually passed over for others when sales happen, so I've been fairly happy with things so far. However, if someone has most of these items I can easily see them being a bit Meh by the sale. As for the 60% off stuff, just coming out of the PA 60% off sales, yeah, I can see how this is unimpressive, But it is also important to remember, this is only week one of a month long sale, things are bound to pick up.
Really, so far my only real complaint was the recent "Medieval" catagory sale with only 12 items in it... There are plently of older armors, clothing, castles, weapon, and such just in the PC+ backcatalog alone to have given that catagory a little more flesh... However, I'm in a wait and see mode at the moment... however I am hoping for some sci-fi bundles soon... I've been eyeing the GIS stuff for a while...
You might to check that, as you'll find quarterly's on sale too - you need to add to the cart to show the discount
Why don't they advertise that..
all the info says yearly, and nothing about quarterly.. but thanks for the info!
The people who have been here for years or who buy frequently aren't getting anything, or much, out of the bundles as we have it all- but it's a great opportunity for newer members or those who didn't get the stuff when it was first released. The 60% sales have been nice and it seems they're trying to strike a balance with the bundles of old stuff and the 60% deals. For me, after getting 64% off the PA sale, even the 60% isn't enticing, but everyone was at different levels during the PA sale so it is probably a great deal for many people. The 40%, well...I am saving for Michael 7 so not blowing through my budget on the 40% stuff. Still buying some here and there, mostly to support the vendors releasing male outfits even though I don't need them right now. (like the raincoat.)
Pass, I guess because it's the better deal - but the link on the S&P takes you to the PC+ page, so I just assumed it was implied that both are.
Quarterly is 16.80, the discount applies there too. I just tried putting it in the cart.
But the advertisement is misleading, as it only talks about annual membership.
