render progress

What I would like is that when I hit the render button, I'd see some progress line. At this moment, it is either  'cancel' or save as'.

or am I missing something?

    The progress bar is behind the render window - use the Task Bar (or Dock on Mac, I think) to bring the main application to the front, drag the progress bar to one side, and you will then be able to see both it and the rnder window.

    As for this topic, I would like to know how to keep the progress window open after rendering. I often have to render overnight and I would like to see how long it took.

    The progress bar will close, but the log (Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File) will tell you how long it took and which devices were used.
