2025 Not Rendering

When I first installed DS 2025 about 2 weeks ago, it worked great. But, just a few days ago it suddenly stopped rendering - both in the INVIDIA iray preview and when clicking to do a full render.

It gives me the "preparing to render" message and everything goes to gray scale like it normally does but it never progresses beyond that. One day I clicked render and left it for 4 hours while I went to do other things and nothing changed.

When I saw the recent update and installed it yesterday, I was hoping it would be fixed. But it wasn't.

I have no idea what changed and caused this.

Any ideas?

If you just load a cube and press render then it doesn't work?

What does your log say, Help > Troubleshooting > View Log?

Is your GPU listed in Render Settings > HW?

    I will check felis.

I was just comming back here to mention that I got to thinking that it might be scene-specific. So I loaded a different scene - one I have rendered before and I still get the same thing in the preview. However, it WILL render when I click the render button.

    Wierd.

Felis, it has been so many years since I have used the primitives I don't remember where to find them.

I checked for INVIDIA updates and there was a new driver uodate for mine. I installed it.

Strange thing ... I loaded a scene created in the DS 4.24 and both the preview and render functions work. So, there is something specific to these recent scenes created in DS 2025.

I just created a new scene in 2025 - it's just Linday's stone swimming pool - and preview still will not work. But it works for older, saved scenes that contain more - even people.

It renders when I click the render button. Just won't preview.

    Here is the recent log:

The log says you have a GTX980M. I don't know how much VRAM it has, but it will definitely be limited.

And the error is 'ran out of memory'. So with that card you will only be able to do scenes where you careful administer how much geometry and textures (and there size) there are.

And I think that the 9x series won't be supported for long.

Perhaps. But I have render much larger scenes in DX 4.24. and the will render in 2025 as well as render in the preview window in 2025. It seems to be only recently created scenes, created in 2035.

I did a Google search on this issue. Below is the AI response:

Based on your description, you're experiencing a common issue in Daz Studio 2025 where the preview window fails to display the rendered scene. I think some kind of setting has changed somehow.

Here's a breakdown of possible causes and troubleshooting steps, drawing from similar experiences in Daz Studio and other rendering/editing applications:

    1. Check basic settings & software issues

    • Ensure "Video Preview" or equivalent is selected: In some applications, a separate "Trimmer" or other window might be selected instead of the actual video preview window, leading to a black screen. Verify that you have the correct preview window active.
    • Check for conflicting software/plugins: Some third-party plugins or security software can interfere with rendering. Try temporarily disabling plugins or security software to see if it resolves the issue.
    • Resetting Daz Studio settings: In some programs, resetting all settings to factory defaults can resolve issues.
    •

    2. Address potential graphics-related problems

    • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause rendering glitches. Ensure your graphics card drivers are up-to-date, preferably using Studio Drivers for NVIDIA cards if you have one.
    • Check Graphics Card Settings in Daz Studio: Within Daz Studio preferences, verify that the correct graphics card (especially if you have both integrated and dedicated GPUs) is selected for rendering and that any relevant settings (like OpenCL memory size) are optimized for your hardware.
    • Disable Windows Display Scaling: Some users report that disabling Windows display scaling (DPI settings) can fix rendering problems in Daz Studio viewports.
    • Restart Graphics Driver: Sometimes, a quick restart of the graphics driver can help. You can achieve this using the keyboard shortcut: Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B
    •

    3. Explore potential project-specific issues

    • Test with a New or Simple Project: If the problem is project-specific, try opening a new, simpler project or scene to see if the preview works correctly there. This can help isolate whether the issue is with Daz Studio itself or with the project file.
    • Check for Excessive Complexity or Unoptimized Elements: Very complex scenes or inefficiently modeled objects can sometimes strain rendering resources, causing the preview to fail.
    •

    4. Additional troubleshooting steps

    • Check Daz Studio Community Forums: Search or post on the Daz 3D forums for Daz Studio 2025, as other users may have experienced and found solutions for this issue.
    • Reinstall Daz Studio (as a last resort): A clean reinstallation of Daz Studio can sometimes resolve persistent rendering problems.

Well, I couldn't figure out what happened so I decided to un-install 2025 thinking it would show up in the DIM again so I could re-install it. But it didn't.

Oh well. DS 4.24 still works great so I'll continue using that.

Are you saving downloads after installation. Then it should be in 'Ready to Install tab (or whatever the middle one is called.
