Carrara User Lost In Daz Studio

Once again trying to use DS.  I have Urban Sprawl 3 (US3), I load Block 1 iRay, all is good, renders great in default scene (daytime).  Then I go to "Materials/iRay/US3 Block1 Nightlight (H.Materials(s) MDL)"  It says "Reading Asset" and a menu pops up, "Apply Heirarchical Material(s) Preset/Select Node(s) to apply to"   I select all the nodes and hit "Accept".  "Reading Asset" continues for a few seconds, then disappears.  I render and get the same daytime lighting.  What am I missing? frown

Heirarchical Materials need the correct thing selected, the group of objects it applies too

and annoyingly DON"T work in Carrara if the only option there is

cannot test that one now as rendering something else but you probably have to have the top level of the whole set selected

Thanks again for the help with DS.  I'm seriously considering a new machine and after some browsing including the DAZ DS Forums, think an nVidia RTX 4090 GPU is best.  Yes, nVidia has discontinued it, but the newer series (50xx) does not work with the stable DS 4.24, only the DS 2025 Alpha.  And there are still machines available for purchase from highly rated vendors with the 4090.  I suspect Carrara would also benefit from the 24GB VRAM. I currently use an nVidia GeForce RTX 2060 with 8GB Vram, does pretty well for Carrara preview renders, but DS does not usually use the GPU at all, too big a scene I think, and the CPU renders take a long time.  Whaddya think?
