Victoria 4 crashes Daz Studio

I only load Victoria 4 seldomly. Might be a good while since last.

But I wanted to try something and loaded her. And either when she was almost loaded or up to 5-10 seconds after loading (visible in viewport), Daz Studio crsahed to a crash window.

I tried to reinstall Victoria 4.2 Base, but that didn't change anything.

The DS log just showed a normal load.

And the crash happended in both latest 4.24 and latest 4.24 public build.

Looking at the cload log (from the crash report), there was a number of "Could not adjust thumbnail path from support path: /Runtime/Support/DAZ_3D_" but my guess is it is because I don't log into Daz Studio.

It is not an emergency to be able to load V4, but I wonder if it could be something worse.

Anyone who has any suggestions, or should I just make a ticket?

    How did you install?

Never mind, it did the same here. I was sure I had used it more recently than the last update.

Ah, good to know. I thought it was something locally.

I just loaded Victoria 4.2 into Daz Studio 4.24.0.3 Public Build with no problems.

I don't have any problem either with 4.24. Maybe some plugin is the culprit.

How are you loading it ?

EXP based figures have two problems in DS4.

First is Power Loader, it hasn't worked right since DS4.0, the problem is that it is meant to read the PZ2 files in the runtime folder, instead it heads into the data folder looking for DSF files, and will load anything it finds in there instead of the PZ2 files. We first learned of this issue when people complained about not being able to load the Sub Dragon, instead they got the LE that's part of the Genesis Starter Essentials, the remedy from DAZ was for users to delete the DSB script file and to stop using Power Loader.

Second issue is that since 4.12 they all generate over a dozen circular link errors, this is due to changes made to the Poser Import plugin when the IK system was added to DS4.

AFAIK there have been no fixes for either issue,

PowerLoader works as expected on my side. I can choose to load various group of morphs in the PowerLoader dialogue. All pz2 files are loaded with no issue ~~ Then I don't know about the circular link errors. I didn't find any error or warning messages in DS log... where to identify the error ?

Besides, I don't thing either of the above "issues" shoud lead to a DS crash.

I don't know if it's related but the order in which you add runtimes to your library is important, the one with V4 or any of the other generation 4 figure base loads, deltas, Powerloader etc  must be above any others with content for them particulary morphs

Ah, so you mean the order of Daz Libraries under Poser Formats ?  I moved the library where all V4/M4 are installed to the bottom of 3 libraries under Poser Formats, loading V4/M4 still worked well with no issue ~

others including Richard said the same but putting it above the others did work for those having issues

which suggests it is something in the content of those other libraries causing the issue

but finding out just what given how many third party products we all had would be impossible

I myself have stuff from Content Paradise, Poserworld, RDNA,  Renderosity and a plethora of smaller site, many defunct so have no hope of finding the culprit

Hmm, got it.  I just have a few of them ~

Almost certainly a plug-in issue - it loads if I use http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/plugins/plugins_load_config/start to knock out al the additional plug-ins. Now I just need to work out which are guilty, probably soemthing I have added since it last worked (I'd already tried disabling the Yellow and the Premier Shape/Pose Transfer plug-ins without resolving the issue, so not them).

Hmm, it appears to be UltraScatter 2 - disabled all the plug-ins, just reactivated that one, restarted DS and got a crash when V4 finished loading.

I am not seeing any sign of these issues in a vanilla Victori 4.2 and shapes++, at least.

And that is on a clean install of V4.

I did not install Victoria 4.2 or Michael 4 on my new machines because of the massive number of files that need metadata, but with this issue, is it still possible for someone who wants to use the characters to move them up to Genesis or Genesis 2 with GenX? I am not sure, but I thought I had read GenX was not working any longer? But if you uninstalled your plugin long enough to load the character and move her up to a newer model, could you then reinstall the plug-in and use both at the same time?

GenX2 does still work in 4.24. Someone posted a thread about it not working recently but that was because they had both GenX2 and the original GenX installed, which causes problems.
