Does carefully removing third party content manually works?
Hi, Does manually removing third-party content from "my daz3d library" work as well as uninstalling official content in the DAZ Install Manager?
I understand you can't uninstall third-party content from DAZ Install Manager since there isn't any install path in the first place, and you just copied and pasted it to the library yourself. What I'm wondering is, can you manually remove them the same way? correctly removing associated files from data, people, and runtime folders and double-checking to make sure you only delete the exact content associated with the model.
1.created a dummy folder to predict exact file pathes.
2.double checked and removed all the associated files with the model from my daz3d library.
Does this approach actually work, and would this make Daz3D loading times faster by getting rid of unnecessary morphs? (Please take a look at the pictures below to better understand what I did.)
Thank you very much for any helpful tips.

If you removed all the files that are in the zip, you should be good.
Based on your post my understanding is the purpose is to cut load times. If so you couldinstead move all the characters you want to remove to a new content library, that you don't have defined in Daz Studio. So if you want to use one of the characters you can add it (of course it will mean load times are back till you remove it again).
Firstly, the way you showed looks surely OK but it's just a bit time-consuming ~~ When you become experienced, you don't have to create those "dummy folders" ...
Well, in the past, most of us did the same but since Content Wizard was released, we can install 3rd-party products into Smart Content as well as generate installation packages for them to be installed in DIM. Then you can easily uninstall 3rd-party products in DIM.
As for loading time, yes before DS 4.21 (IIRC...), loading time was really long especially when you had a great deal of morph DSF files in data folder. Starting from DS 4.21, the loading time is significantly improved ( 50% at least...) Besides, Turbo Loader can deactivate character / morph products at DSF file level, so as to further shorten loading time, and you don't have to delete / move the product files ~~
"Content wizard" does sound like exactly what I need since I'm into third-party content from time to time. Does the product include a simple guide to follow as well? Anyway, I'm sure there are at least YouTube videos on the subject. Thank you for your help, crosswind.
I have read a bit about having two separate content libraries on my computer, and if I understand correctly, you can only link DAZ to one content location at a time. Does this mean that you can only load models from that single location at a time? Or does Daz Studio support both content locations simultaneously?
Thanks.
You can have multiple content directories, just be aware that the more you add the slower loading might be (DS files store relative paths - e.g. /Runtime/Textures/SomeProduct/Texture1.jpg - and then sticks that onto each content directory until it finds the files or runs out of places to look); it is remommended not to have more than ten of any type, but two or threee won't be a big issue.
That's right ~ You can check the official tutorial from the vendor in here: https://youtu.be/cmb8H9Cr2gw?si=7npAtXjAtlXKT_Uo
