This one hit hard. I have been a fan during my commute days when I could listen to Metal Rock with the windows rolled down and sound cranked up.
And coming right after Malcolm-Jamal Warner's yesterday. I didn't watch the Cosby Show, yet I knew who he was. After hearing what he did after, I am very sorry for his death.
For both men and their families, I send my deepest sympathies and prayers at this time.
Sad, but not surprising. I have seen him live several times. Most memorable was the Bark at the Moon tour with Motley Crue and Waysted in Houston in 1984, epic show! RIP!
Amazing life force. The oldest Sabbath albums are 55 years old. He was old-school when I was blasting hard rock and metal as a teen in the 1980s.
I didn't catch a lot of live music so I never saw him live. My favorite Ozzy memory was one day in the later 1980s the local hard rock station was playing "Lightning Strikes" on a stormy summer afternoon and lightning struck ... knocking the station off the air for some period of time. We dumb kids thought it was hilarious.
Condolences. I think he & his band sang Crazy Train. I love that song.
He sang Crazy Train. His band recorded the music, and his horrible wife Sharon later had the bass and drum tracks re-recorded (supposedly without Ozzy's knowledge) in order to avoid paying Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake royalties.

And apparently she mandated that the Appreciation Event from a few months ago would make NO MENTION of Jake E. Lee. The guy that ressurected Ozzy's career after Randy resurrected him the first time gets no mention. Extremely fishy. <conspiracy>And then he gets shot in his driveway.</conspiracy>

That sure sound like Sharon. I've done Crazy Train and several other Ozzy songs in different bands over the years. He will be sorely missed.
It was never my preferred genre of music, but the man was a trailblazer and an inspiration to so many people. People like that, even if you don't feel the loss personally, there's only a degree or two of separation between you and someone whose life they changed.
My heart to all who are feeling his absence strongly. I hope the legacy of music and innovation he leaves behind can provide some comfort.
"No Rest For the Wicked" album was my first Ozzy experience. I remember, every day going to the weight room with the resat of the football team and the coach would put this cassette tape in and 30 teens rocking out while lifting weights. It's a surprise we never got hurt, but it sure gave us the energy to push harder. I eventually went on to buy everything he did and absolutely loved his music and style, though my step-mother hated it and threw one of the albums away so I hid the rest. He will greatly be missed. He inspired so many of todays' artists and even gave a lot of them their start after he would invite them to perform at Oz Fest.
I feel as if I lost a father, my dad is and has been deep into metal for as long as I can remember, I have always known Ozzy as early as I remember and it's really sinking in that he's no more. Worse part, seeing how much it is affecting my daddy. May the Ozzman rest in peace, hoping Randy and the rest of the guys met him at the end.
"Crazy Train" was from his solo debut album Blizzard of Oz, which I'm listening to as I type this. I'm also working on a tribute render at the same time.
Some legends never die. Nor should this thread. I have named more than one rescued black cat Crowley. As I type this, Ozzy is in my back yard singing Mister Crowley, and within minutes he will be singing Patient Number 9. Am in US but had to buy the later from Amazon UK. No rest for Ozzy here.

What a huge loss to the world of music.

RIP Ozzy
Ozzy's legacy will endure. He gave us Randy, Jake, and Zakk.
RIP Ozzy Osborne.

Pretty sneaky. It's a great song.

Black Sabbath (Shabbat Chazon) is August 2.
I've had "No More Tears" running on repeat in my head as an earworm since I heard the news. Bye Ozzy.
