Ok, I'm going to file this info under "Stuff Steve Should Have Known Years Ago". Now that I know this, it changes the specs of the computers I've been looking at. Thank you, for your answers, it is appreciated.

If you save everything in your current runtime or content folder to an external hard-drive,  you can simply connect that drive to the new computer,  and identify that drive in the DazStudio content manager tab,  and all the files on that drive will be available for use. My C: drive only has the DazStudio appllication program, all the assets and contents are on the d drive or  external drive.

How do I identify the external drive in the content manager tab?

What does your content manager look like?

Your external drive will have a drive letter (if you are on Windows), and you must use that as part of the path.

I'm not sure how to show the content manager, I took a screenshot but when I paste it into the forum it says there are too many characters.

My external drive shows as "D", when I tried adding it to the content manager, it changed so that DS no longer showed stuff on my C drive, but only the D drive, so I changed it back.

To add an image you must 'Attach a file'. You can't copy-paste.

In content manager, select Daz Studio Formats and click Add to add a new entry, you can direct to the 'D' drive.

So if I do that will ds look for content on both drives (obvisiously when the D drive is plugged in) ?

EDIT:  Ignore that, I followed what you said and it does indeed show content for both drives. Thank for your help.

Daz uses relative paths inside the content libraries. So if you have more, it will start in one and continue to the next and so on untill it finds the file it is looking for, or come with an error message 'missing file'.

You can have as many content libraries as you like, but with many searching for a file will likely be a little slower.

DIM can only install to one library (at a time).

I have 4 content libraries, one for Daz, one for 3rd party content, and 2 for my own stuff.

Many thanks. I bow to your DS knowledge (I'm always paranoid about messing with settings, in case I make a total mess of things).
