Looking for a hooded coat or jacket that can be used as a traditional kid's raincoat. Have purchased several products, but none work. Need hood (can be raised and lowered). Need coat to open and close. Need coat to fall mid-calf or lower. Out of desperation, I even purchased "Just Wet for Genesis 2 males" (https://www.daz3d.com/just-wet-for-genesis-2-male-s-and-michael-6)  and dForce Wet Weather Gear for Genesis 8 Males (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-wet-weather-gear-for-genesis-8-males). On the surface, they seem like decent places to start, but they do not hold up to kids posing actions like jumping. Been looking for a long time.

There's this set which fullfills some of your requirements, and the length could be adjusted I guess - you would need a morph to make it close properly though: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-bloody-rain-outfit-for-genesis-8-and-81-females. It looks as if it moves pretty well. Might want to give it a try.

Then there's this really pretty coat which has a lot of options and could maybe be adapted as a raincoat: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-km-duffle-coat-for-genesis-8-females. Might want to rummage around in the coats section a little anyways, there might be more with hoods.

Concerning the G8M Wet Weather gear that you already have, what are the problems precisely? Maybe they could be fixed by fiddling with the dForce settings and weight maps?

Edit: There's also this older set, it doesn't open or have the hood down option, but maybe you could use different coats for different set ups? Here: https://www.daz3d.com/h-c-raincoat-outfit-for-genesis-3-male-s.

Thanks tsroemi and scorpio. The duffle coat for genesis 8 looks promising. I just need to figure out how to make it longer and mask the toggle closures. With my limited knowledge, I tried setting geometry to zero on the toggles, but that would've been too easy.

The toggles will most likely have their own material, so the simplest thing is to go into Surfaces, find their material and set the opacity to zero. If you're lucky and the modelling is good, they should just disappear without leaving any holes in the mesh. - To make it longer, you can use Mesh Grabber or see whether you can grab onto the coat's leg bone(s) and, using Parameters, move the bone down along the Y-axis or upscale the Y-size, it depends on the setup of the garment. I bet there are lots of other and better ways, but these are methods I often use and know to work.

OOPs. I did not mean set "geometry" to zero, I meant set "opacity" to zero. And, still,  I was not lucky. That did not work. The toggle closures do not totally disappear. Normally, I would try to fix it in post processing in Photoshop. But, it seems a lost cause. I will ,however, try playing with Mesh Grabber. Even if it does not work for this, it is good to know.

Thanks. I appreciate all the advice. It is very helpful.

You can use the geometry editor also to actually cut off the geometry that's still visible after playing with the surface opacity: Activate the tool and then select the offending vertices and delete the selection. Can be a bit wonky and usually doesn't save very well, but worth a try.
