harddrive broke - new install - scenes were stored different but all morphs are "missing files" know

Hi guys,

so last week my C hard drive broke with my windows, the daz3D app, my library and everything on it.

I stored my created scenes and files on a different drive, so I thought, I can just install Daz3D on my new Win computer and well... just open my scenes.
But I can't. I get missing files - all of them are just morphs - it searches for the morphs in a very weird location "/data/Daz 3D/Genesis 9/Base/Morphs/myusername/another name/"
I saved my character's as scene subsets. Why are the Morphs not just ... using the installed ones. I am so confused. Why are they searching for a location under my name ... I did something wrong while saving, right? :(

I installed all assets with the DAZ Install Manager. Took me a night.
The textures and clothings are loading. But all morphs are "missing". They are in Daz3D, I can add them to the figure. So they would work.
Can I get daz3d relocate the morphs? Can I patch that? Is there a trick?

And also, I get "Duplicate formulas found in files" but only for one item.
(File: /data/Daz 3D/Genesis 9/Base/Morphs/PedroFurtadoArts/The Age/PFA The Age - Elderly Head.dsf)

I bought a new hard drive just for daz3d and put everything on this hard drive. The app and the library.
I added the path to my Content Library, I updated the meta data in Smart Content.

How can I fix this? Is there a fix or do I have to start new with all of my work? I don't know what to do. I searched in the forum for hours.
I'm using this program very plain and simple. Shaping, posing, clothing, saving - that's it. I don't know about any tricks or how to install it better. :(

Thanks for helping. T_T

That's the correct location for Genesis 9 morphs. How did you install the content?

I used DAZ install manager. The installation is fresh.
The morphs that are missing are in their correct location - in their vendor folders.

But the path saved in my DUF files is wrong. Most of the morphs there are linked to a folder with my name - but I don't have such a folder. I mean, I must had it before my hard drive broke. All the files were saved with my old daz3D installation - where I just also used DAZ install manager. I don't understand, what happened. Like why did the DUF not take the correct path or... what happened with my last Daz3D installation?

Is there a fix or do I have to edit all DUFs manually? T_T

  • That path looks like you created your own morphs. If you didn't back them up, you're only option is to make them again.

Okay, but how did I create my own morph? Like, I just adjusted shapes and saved the files? I don't want to make this mistake again.

I can edit all the DUFs and link the correct paths. But I wanna avoide doing this mistake again. :(

There's several ways of doing it, but mostly it's done by saving a Support Asset.

If you have any scripts or plug ins you use for creating custom characters, be sure to check the documentation to see if they create custom morphs or not.

Modifying the duf's to correct the paths, may solve the problem of missing files, but it's also possible the DSF's have been modified, and the results may not be the same as you previously had.

You'll just have to try it and see.

Well, I don't know if I have plugins like that. Maybe I have, and I hit a "funky button" without noticing.

At least, I can fix my DUFs. Will take a while. I make a new character, hit all morphs that were missing - save it - and then copy and paste the path from there into the old DUFs with the correct values. Lucky, I have a free day tomorrow and a new audiobook. crying

Did you make use of any commands in File>Save As>Support Assets?

    No, I don't think so.

If you search for one of the missings file on your disks, can you then find it, and if what is the path to it.

The missing files are in their normal vendor path, like it should be. Just the DUFs are saved wrong, I guess.

Actually, it is a bit faster to search for the correct paths inside Daz3D. Win explorer is such a baby, when it comes to searching.

You can look at a path behind a morph inside Daz3D. Just click on the wheel.

    Currently:

    1. I open the broken DUF
    2. I look for the wrong paths
    3. I add the exact same morphs to a new model in the same order, but I don't care for the % of the sliders.
    4. I save the new model as a not compressed DUF
    5. I open the DUF, and then I copy and paste the new path into the old DUF - well, actually: I made a tiny script doing that for me, because ... otherwise it would take me hours.

This is easier, because of the format DUF files have. The dash is different from the one in win explorer, also every space in a path must be a %20

I'm also using this "opportunity" to declutter my DUF files. It seems, that there are useless morphs and poses saved, because a slider wasn't perfectly on 0%.

And... I need to learn more about that program. Like, such a mistake - and I still don't know how I made it. Weird. Like the pathing in Daz3D. I never looked how files are stored, but... omg. It looks so random.

Oh and thank you all for your fast input. <3

Edit: And while doing that, I found that many products causes errors in my log - some are just spelling mistakes ... I wish, I could fix them. indecision

Edit 2: Oh lol, I can fix them. Can't believe that such old content never got fixed.
