Well, the "fix" is to not use iRay, not a solution for most DAZ Studio users. A silicon-native version *might* squeeze in another 10-15% of a speed increase (based on the last few years of other applications going silicon-native) but I don't beleive there'll be the type of fix you're looking for. Someone may come up with another rendering engine that doesn't require a video card maker's chips for optimal performance someday, but it'll still mean going non-iRay.
Interesting... I need to mess more with DS on my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max. (got a very good deal on a refurb from OWC). It is fairly souped with 64G RAM and 32 core GPU (and 16" display). Mostly so far I've mainly run UltraSecenery on it as it is WAAAAAYYYY faster both loading and rendering in iray on my M1 Max than my older intel Mac Pro towers. (a few minutes vs hours). I'm sure Mac silicone will be considerably slower than PC/Nvidia but will have to test further to see what I can get out of it anyway. Personally not a fan of the Windows OS so I will make do with my Macs. These days I use Corel Painter and Photoshop more in my art than I use DS anyway.
There's nothing to fix.
Your laptop has an Nvidia GPU which Iray can use to render. With a Mac you’re rendering with the CPU, so of course it will be much slower.
I did a lowlight render yesterday on my MacMini Pro M4 of Tiili and CJ Eska 9 and it took three hours approximately. That was fine, I had other things to do during that time. And the render came out great.
If I wanted to get a quick render I could render it on my Windows 11 laptop, but I would have had to wait an hour for a cumulative update to chugged its way. By the time it was done, my spine decided I was over sitting in a computer chair for the day.
If I want super quick, I can open the file in the Alpha on the Mac and render it in seconds in Filament and not get the effect I wanted.
