The Bone Minion series of products revolutionized how poses were converted for Daz Studio, enabling poses to be used from different figure generations by converting them on-demand. Apply a pose to the Bone Minion, and it would be automatically converted on the fly. However, sometimes you just want to have and use a pose preset, especially with hierarchical poses. The Bone Minion Batch Converter will work with your bone minion products to save pose presets to be used later. It allows you to convert entire pose directories at once, by using your installed Bone Minion products to convert the pose, and then saving the pose preset.
Automatically convert your entire library of Genesis 8 poses using the Bone Minion Batch Converter! The Bone Minion Batch Converter Genesis 8 script works with any installed Bone Minion for Genesis 8 Poses for XXX product to provide batch execution for automatically converting your Genesis 8 poses. Easily select the Poses presets in your library, select an output directory, and execute the script. Even better, icons and categories are copied from your original pose to the new pose presets.
- Convert Full Poses, Partial Poses, even Hierarchical Poses to Pose Presets, that can be used on any machine, even ones without Bone Minion installed
- Uses any Genesis 8 Bone Minion product installed (i.e., Bone Minion for Genesis 8/8.1 Poses for Genesis, Bone Minion for Genesis 8/8.1 Poses for Genesis 2, Bone Minion for Genesis 8/8.1 Poses for Genesis 3, etc.), even future products (i.e., if a Bone Minion for Genesis 8/8.1 Poses for Genesis 10 product comes out, the script should work with it)
- Includes Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for Genesis 9!
- Copies icons from Genesis 8 Poses for a professional look
- Copies Smart Content Products! Converted Poses will be organized into similar products as the original items. The converted product mirrors the original items' products, organizing multiple converted items into one converted product and even using the product image from the original products.
- Converted Poses are Smart Content enabled!
- Automatically convert your entire library of poses with one operation! (except for Hierarchical Poses, which need the props loaded first, but then you can convert all poses for those props with one step
INCLUDES Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for Genesis 9 to provide conversion of Genesis 8 poses to Genesis 9. The Bone Minion Batch Converter uses your existing Bone Minion for Genesis 8 for XXX products. Without the correct Bone Minion products installed, the script cannot convert your Genesis 8 poses to the target figure generation.

Just for my clarifcation, do I understand what this is?
Stand-alone, without any other Bone Minion products, this works to convert Gen 8&8.1 to Gen9?
But to convert to other models, we need to purchase Bone Minion for that model?
Assuming we have the apprpriate Bone Minion converter does it work with poses other than G8 & G8.1? For example Genesis 3 poses for Genesis 9 ?
It looks like a great product but I am a bit disappointed there is no discount for those of us who already own the included Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for Genesis 9.
Is it DS 4 only, or does it work in DS 2025 Alpha (DS 6)?
Will this convert the Horse poses if I have the proper Bone Mininions for them?
Thanks!
This is a batch converter for converting G8 poses to other generations using the Bone Minion products. It includes the Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for Genesis 9 product. It can use other Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for XXX, such as Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for Genesis 3, Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for Genesis 2, etc. If you want to convert g8 poses to other generations besides G9, you will need to have bought those products.
No, it is only for batch converting G8 poses. Hopefully, I will make a Bone Minion Batch Converter for G3 Poses in the future.
I am sorry, that was an oversight on my part. Originally, the product did not include any of the BM products. Bone Minion for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Poses for Genesis 9 was added at the last minute.
Right now, it is DS 4 only. I am going to try and get it working when I work on the Bone Minion Batch Converter for other generations.
No, this is for G8/G8.1 Poses only.
This is really cool and easy to use! Have you ever run across anything that could cause issues with wrist and forearm bends when converting? I assume it's likely to be user error, but I've gone over the documentation a few times and can't figure out where I'm going wrong.
It seems to do something squirrely to the joint alignment or something; I can't untwist it.
With some extreme poses, you can get that twist. This can happen sometimes with a Bone Minion. Look for the bones called Left Forearm Twist 1 and 2. Usually you can zero out one of them to fix it.
Hello, thanks for such a great tool, I have a few questions:
1) Do you plan to do the same for Genesis 2?
2) What does the conversion speed depend on for this product and in your previous "single" products? Does it depend on the CPU performance or is it just the ancient DAZ3D engine that imposes limitations and even with i9/Threadripper it will take minutes/hours for really big pose collections?
3) Do you have any plans to create/expand your scripts for converting animations (one pose with several keyframes inside)?
It's a nice product, when I can get it to work. But it thinks probably a solid 80% of my pose collection for G8M aren't actually poses.
And so on and so forth.
Is there a way I can convince it to recognise all these poses too, or am I doomed to failure?
Eventually yes
Conversion would be CPU bound. The biggest limitation is having LOTS of Daz content though that has clogged up the Daz metadata database (you can try unchecked "Metadata" in the options, it might help).
I hadn't thought about that. I will have to think about how to do it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Your Daz database must not be reporting the metadata for files. I tried to write a fallback where the script is looking inside the files and use that, but it looks like there is a bug. I will work on that.
In the meantime, uncheck "Check Content Type When Adding Files" will allow you to add any file
I just tried it and it didn't work... so I took a closer look at the hover text and it doesn't include adding by directory. *facepalm* So I guess I have a very long and boring conversion journey ahead...
EDIT: Strangely though, doing it this way seems to make it convert the poses much faster, which is weird but nice.
Thank you, it was the twist bones causing the distortion! It happens with pretty much every pose, even if the arm is just slightly bent, so I'm still pretty sure I've got something borked somewhere. But at least I know how to fix it now!
That is strange. I rarely get twist errors (just enough to know it can happen). I wonder what is happening?
Submitted an update
Note: I plan to support Daz Studio 2025 eventually. However, converting my scripts is turning out to not be trivial so it is not in this update.
When will a batch converter for Generation 4 to Genesis 8 or Genesis 9 be released? Your Bone Minion product was a godsend for me. Thanks to it, I was able to use numerous poses from Victoria 4 on Genesis 8. However, applying and saving each pose individually was a time-consuming process. If you were to sell a batch converter, I would buy it immediately.
While I know G8 and G8.1 have mostly the same geometry, it is strange the batch converter doesn't recognize the G8.1 heavy pose minion as g8.
The original bone minion was never intended that you would save the poses, you would just use the poses without needing to save a new pose. However, people like yourself requested it so that is why I am releasing the batch converters now. The Generation 4 Batch Converter will probably be available in Dec.
For poses that Bone Minion works with (non-FACS), the two generations are identical. G8.1 is not needed.
Hrmm, the Hierarchical poses button doesn't seem to work. I have the prop attached to the bone minion and I have selected the pose for the prop. But the button remains grayed out. And even if I select the prop file in the batch converter, the option still remains grayed out. The converter does not open if I have the prop selected in the scene tab.

So,uh, help?
The prop needs to be on the bone minion AND the target figure. I use Prop Minion to copy it over precisely but you can do it manually.
Aah, okay okay!
