Adjusting Skin Colour Shading and Texture?

Got a Genesis 8 Male character. The skin looks a little flat and pale when spotlight/s are used. I've been fiddling with the skin's surfaces to get it to be life like. 

By default, the skin comes with Translucency Weight Off. I've turned it on to a low level of 0.020. I've seen in some other characters that Scatter and Transmit is on. When it's on, White is seen. Should I persevere with it or just use Scatter? See attachments.

Be good if there was a Skin Builder for Genesis 8/8.1 instead of just for G8 Females.

    If the skin you're using has an SSS texture, that would normally go in the translucency color slot. If not, try just putting the base color texture there.

     No SSS Texture. Found the characters base colour .png texture and selected it. Does not look right or have I done it wrong?

    That looks rather like a game conversion, in which case it will be limited to whatever maps the game engine used (and it's use in this way may very well not be permitted by the license).

    Can Skin Builder for Genesis 8 Female be used on a Genesis 8 Female. Then Genesis 8 UV Swap: Male and Female Base to apply then skin?
