Bald guy seeks hair

DiscipleDisciple Posts: 160

I'm looking for something that forms a cozy sphere around a G8F head, with fringy bangs and covered ears, like the unlisted hair Cataleya wears.

It's for my super lady, so wind and motion must be strong.  Right now she wears Nirv Straight Long Hair and it's wonderful, but the short morph distorts the motion morphs.

My epic hair may be gone, but my characters need not share that fate. Your help is appreciated and thanks for reading.

Those are great.  I have all but two.  Alas, Blair tends to detach from the head when morphed.

Here are a couple of panels showing what I'm after.  This is the Nirv hair morphed.  The right panel shows what I like, the snug bubble around the head and neck. The left panel shows my problem, crinkled ends created by the short morph.  It gets worse when I pose her shoulders or combine morphs.

Still open to more ideas.  I might have to overlap two hairs, for an underlayer that keeps the scalp attached. Thanks in advance for more input.

Can you do a larger version of the image with the unwanted crinkles? I have a particular hair issue I run into with my characters but I can't tell from the image if it's like mine.

At this size, it's seen on both images somewhat.

Never noticed any issues with Blair hair so I loaded a random test scene with a G8F character to check. The character happened to wear Riley hair which you could try, it has some good morphs.  I don't think the promos really do it justice, so I've attached a render of the scene.

Your render is the better presentation, no question.

I'm going to test combining Blair Hair with Sam Hair as a scalp-hugging foundation... and it seems to be gone from the store. sad

It's not quite as kempt as Nirv's hair, but that might be an acceptable sacrifice for intact morphs and fringy bangs. Pixels will tell.  Thanks for the information, and I'll keep checking back in case of more ideas.

Interestingly, I'm not seeing crinkle artifacts in testing Nirv Straight Long Hair on one of my custom characters. They have historically been prone to ripples and weird artifacts in hair around the chin level. What morph settings are you using?

I'm not seeing any either, even with shoulders in shrug mode as here.  Using Shape 10 and Back Hair Adjust - 25.  Probably an issue with the character used - maybe changing the body morph may help?

Okay. Here's unmorphed G8F with Nirv Straight Long Hair (81300), Color 12 material applied, and with Nirv ASLH Shapes 10 set at 100% and at 0%.

I'm going to attempt to edit the opacity image to get the bobbed shape that way, since the Blair substitute looks nice but doesn't fit my requirements quite as well.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep checking in if more ideas come along, maybe a product from another shop or something.

    Well, that's... something.

The UV maps were not designed to produce smooth, even bob boundaries.  But I shall test this remedy with some production images, and I'll work with Blair a bit more.  Maybe a few more morphs and D-formers can shape it up.

Definitely going to keep this conversation open, though.  Maybe a PA will take it up as a challenge.

Maybe I can make this work.  Nirv's UVs give me a trimmed boundary that's not well behaved, and Blair is a bit hard to tame, but the big problems are now small problems.  Nirv looks fine from most angles, and Blair is blessed with plenty of bones and pose sliders.

I'm thinking of alternating hairs, Nirv for the stable dialogue scenes, and Blair for when she springs into action.  Additional tweaking is needed, but there's hope, thanks to all the helpful replies.  I'll still keep watch on this space for further input.  Best of success to all.

It's outside of my genre so take it for it's worth, but I kind of like the idea of the small appearance change that indicates a different persona.

Thanks. If it works, I'll add it to my tool set.

I'm still curious as to whether you or anyone else found that Shape 10 can crumple the long straight hair like in my test setup, and if not, what I'm doing wrong.
