Release Time Change?

Has DAZ decided to change their release time schedule? They"ve trained us for years to check their website like clockwork.

From what has been said in the sales error thread, they're apparently experimenting releasing new items at 10AM Daz time (MDT). Which means there should be someone in office to fix whatever doesn't work directly if required.

Looks like it, I'm going to miss waking up in the morning and checking the email.

Yeah, it's been a regular part of my morning for a decade plus. As regular as my morning coffee ... on the days I just don't stay up late enough to see what is being released (East Coast US here). They should warn us before this kind of trauma. DAZ customers aren't known for liking change.

I definitely hate this change. Being based in the UK, I'd have a look just after 7am on my way to work and contemplate throughout the day if I was going to buy anything in the evening when I get home. Now even at 5pm UK time (10am MST) the page didn't update.

Also being on the autistic spectrum and over-reliant on routine, this is another reason I hate this change.

I hope it gets changed back to what it used to be.

The store used to update at 2 a.m. for me.  This worked GREAT as a night owl, I was always still up so could check it right away.  Now with a daytime update that puts me at work, where I really, really cannot be looking at the new "less modest" DAZ store at my desk I guess I'll shop after I get home. Or not. <shrug>

Note:  I know, I know, I can turn on the Mature Content filter at work, but while there is plenty I don't WANT to see in that category, there is plenty that is still "just a person" who happens to have standard A-Pose "almost clinical" nude promos.  Totally different than "adult situations" but either would get me fired.  I like my job, so....

Note2: Also, these are merely MY issues and preferences and circumstances, and DAZ is free to do whatever they please without any regard for me and my opinions what-so-ever. I've been shopping hard-core since about 2009 and reckon I have a pretty substantial library to get me by. We'll see how all this plays out.

Go in a private restroom stall and check it on your phone. wink

For me it was always either 3:30pm or 4:30pm (depending on daylight saving time) and I would check when I got in from work. I can still check when I'm in from work, but now it's 'yesterday's' products (from an Aussie viewpoint). No worries though, as glitches will probably have been fixed by the time it gets to me ;)

Either time works for me. Living in Europe, checking the store right after it turns used to be part of my morning routine. Now it'll be part of what I do to unwind in the evening after work.

My sleep/wake schedule is completely unstable, so it makes no difference to me. It'll be a welcome change if it means sales spend less time being buggy.

The store used to update at 3am for me.  This would be a problem if I got up in the middle of the night and I impulsively checked my email and saw something I like.  The worst being on Thursdays when a good bundle gets released.  I end up not being able to go back to sleep, get the bundle and then my whole day is off.  I wouldn't always buy, and at the very least it gave me a good bit of time to think about it throughout the day.

So with that said, I'm divided on the change.

Morning time, 8am, checking out, what's new in the DAZ store.
    disappointing nothing
Guess, I'll have to sleep til 6pm, from now on.

For me, I used to stay up just long enough to check out the new stuff at Daz midnight, then go to bed and buy the next day. Now the new stuff hits during my work day. It's not a time I personally prefer, but I get it that it means the update occurs at a time that's easier for the Utah-based staff to support.

EW! Something about that seems extra  p * e * r * v * y  - HA HA!  Besides, no outside electronics at work. (It is actually kinda nice taking a cellphone break for eight hours a day.)

  • Well, they're either late today, there are cloudflare issues, or they're experimenting with another time since it's 11:13 am CDT = 10:13an MDT.

They have a new strategy. The customers must not know when it starts nor ends.

It is up but it is buried 3 deep in the rotating banner series.

Hmmm, no new Premier Character Bundle today? I thought those came out weekly.

It varies but I expect 2 premier characters bundles a month.

No wonder I couldn't find it.

Re: Premier figures. I too expected a new one, but I was really hoping Daz would add some older figures to the selection, which only has 7 figures. I effectively have a choice of 3, since I already own 4 of the figures (either from a Premier coupon or as part of another bundle). I'd be very surprised if other longtime Daz buyers have that many choices, since I'm a very late G9 adopter.

No phones in the classified vault for us, but we could have them in the open office area.

I once worked somewhere where they would search people if they thought they had a phone on them, and this was not some government or government contracted company. IP protection apparently when challenged - and again, this was not a F500 company, it was a Mom n Pop SME, whose sole IP owned product was so niche, low in demand and convoluted to manufacture that no one would want to copy it. They were just control freaks.

Where I work now, that is a F500, they don’t care about phones, they trust the adults to do their jobs and hit their targets. Management are so laid back they’re almost horizontal, plus Im WFH more than in office.

I worked in a bakery and phones were banned, everything was basically except a locker key

(money, car keys, I could have a feminine hygiene product on me, it all had to fit in a tiny internal pocket in my pants)

we had to change into our uniforms and out of them for tea breaks (which is when most used phones)

  • I'm generally a morning (US time) shopper.  Now, by the time Daz has its new releases and promotion for the day, I've already left for work.  I tend to have more things which call for my attention in the evenings, so I'm likely to shop and spend less with later release times.  I never see many of the late-day Flash Sales.

I have no idea if the "Four Phases of Malfunctioning" (from Monday) sale was the last straw for the previous release schedule, but it ought to be.

Please, simpler sales.  Conditions of the sale clearly explained. If someone can't write out the conditions of the sale in less than five minutes, the sale is overly complicated.

I think there needs to be a hotline set up for assistance like the ones you see for gambling addiction with casino websites.

"Four Phases of Malfunctioning"  laugh Now that made me laugh. It is a perfect description.

Only time will tell, but I know the change means I will probably shop less.  I don't mean that in any petty way - it is just a fact of my time and the structure of my day.  I used to enjoy catching things on "moment of release".

The real question is will this work better for others? Maybe this will tap into a lucrative day market that previously felt slighted by the night market and benefit DAZ.

I'm in Phase Three of the Four Phases of Malfunctioning.
