DS stalls when using Daz built in spotlight (iRay mode)
DS stalls when using Daz built in spotlight (iRay mode)
I can use HDRI domes for lighting, but any attempt to use any Daz lights (spot, point, etc,) results in DS stalling - it appears totally frozen and does not respond to inputs within the program, but will respond to shut down request using the red x. Sometimes this will also happen when using other sections of the app, but it is not consistent.
Task Manager show DS running, with cpu usage at 97% to 99.9%, after watching for 20 minutes the cpu usage bounces around between the two above percentages but never drops below 97%. memory usage is in the 1-8% range during this same time.
Is this a tech issue? or is this because I am using an "iRay potato"? Or??

IRAY is only directly supported by NVIDIA graphics cards. If you don't have one, the CPU does all rendering. So effectively all PCs with non-NVIDIA graphics cards are IRAY potatoes.
What does the log say (Help>Troubleshooting>VIew Log File)? You will need to scroll back past the start up messages for the new session, of course.
Took me some time to sort through the log... several errors related to my render settings that I can fix, but also a number of warnings and errors listed I do not understand. I have attached several selected warnings, and one complete session in the attached file.
thanks Richard.
is probably the first thiing to fix.
Agreed, unfortunately my render machine died, motherboard and gpu, and i cannot afford to replace it for a while. luckily, i am a hobbyist so no client is involved! currently using a nuc box with ryzen 9 and integrated graphics, which i reconfigured to run DS cpu bound using all available cores and threads.
His specs above say he has a Radeon graphics card. Installing the NVIDIA drivers won't help at all.
Ah, so it does.
