Genesis 8.1 face controls gone after Genesis 8 reinstall

Okay, so a couple of days ago I received a notification when launching Daz that some components of Genesis 8 were missing when loading a scene and it offered to download them.  After this download all of my face controls are now gone and it's broken all of my expressions.  I don't know why I didn't ignore the notification and shouuld know better by now because this is directly hindering my work.  Usually I can go to the character Pose control, select head, and have multiple options for Eyes, Brow, Mouth, etc.  Now this is all gone.  I checked my install folder and all still seems to be there.  What has changed and why are my face controls gone?

    Reiinstalling Genesis 8 Starter Essentials will restore the dummy files that block the Genesis 8 expression controls from loading with 8.1, which means that add-ons that look for them will not work in their turn (anything  that works directly on the expression rig, however, should still work). You should still have the FACS controls that are part of 8.1, though. I don't have the instructions to hand but reenabling them is just a matter of removing the relevant folder from the Genesis 8.1 /data folder tree so that the Gensis 8 controls do load.

    If you default install genesis 8.1 "normal" face controls will not be working, because it installs some dummy files, that it tries to use instead, as genesis 8.1 has FACS as default.

    You can normally remove these files in the genesis 8.1 area.

    If it has worked before, I assume that you must have done that.

    But if it was re-installed from inside Daz Studio, it has been installed with Daz Connect, and then you can't do that "trick".

    So has face pose controls previously worked with genesis 8.1?
